Job summary

Henry Ford Health in Jackson, MI is seeking a Medical Laboratory Scientist for the afternoon shift (2:30 PM - 11:00 PM). The role involves performing a dynamic mix of routine and complex analytic procedures across the laboratory, maintaining accuracy with manual and automated instruments, and ensuring data integrity within LIS systems.

The MLS will support LEAN projects and CAP accreditation efforts in a growing lab environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a lab discipline; ASCP/AMT or equivalent preferred.
• Six months of medical laboratory experience.
• Certification at technologist level preferred (ASCP/AMT or equivalent).

Responsibilities

• Perform routine and complex analytic procedures on blood, body fluids, and specimens.
• Operate manual and automated instruments to ensure accurate results.
• Navigate laboratory information systems with precision.

Qualifications

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

• Minimum of a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university required. Coursework must align with duties of the specific section Medical Laboratory discipline position and meet the education Eligibility Routes for Medical Laboratory Scientist listed on the ASCP website at (ascp.org)
• OR possesses a categorical scientist level certification as a BB, C, CG, CT, M, MB
• OR has met the requirements for AAB and/or AMT certifications.
• Requires six months of experience in a medical laboratory setting.
• Demonstrated technical proficiency and theoretical knowledge sufficient to perform laboratory functions are required.
• Certification at the technologist, or medical/clinical lab scientist level from a nationally recognized agency, such as ASCP, AMT, ASM, AAB, AABB, ACS, or HEW is preferred.
