Job summary

California Hospital Medical Center in Los Angeles is seeking a Lab Supervisor to lead departmental goals and budgets while driving continuous improvement and high clinical performance. You will coach the patient care team, cultivate professional growth, and ensure effective communication and accountability across laboratory operations.

In this role you will oversee daily lab activities, validate testing procedures, and maintain inventory and safety standards to support exceptional patient care.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in biological or chemical sciences per CLIA.
  • Minimum five years in a moderate/high complexity lab.
  • Medical Technologist license.
  • Fire Safety training within 90 days.

Responsibilities

  • Supervises and reviews lab personnel performance to ensure policy adherence.
  • Oversees day-to-day laboratory operations and personnel decisions.
  • Analyzes and interprets laboratory results per established processes.
  • Manages inventories of supplies, equipment and consumables.
  • Selects test methodologies appropriate for clinical use of results.
  • Verifies procedures and establishes test performance characteristics.

Job Summary and Responsibilities

As a Lab Supervisor, you will be a pivotal leader, directly contributing to the development of annual departmental goals, objectives, and budget, while actively facilitating their achievement and ensuring ongoing evaluation of results for continuous improvement.

Furthermore, your ability to conduct challenging conversations with professionalism and empathy is crucial, as you are directly responsible for cultivating high performance within your team and ensuring the overall success of the laboratory.

  • Supervises, coaches, and reviews the performance of laboratory personnel to ensure adherence to relevant policies and ethics
  • Oversees designated laboratory day-to-day operations and exercises authority over personnel decisions
  • Analyzes and interprets laboratory results in accordance with established laboratory work processes
  • Administers laboratory inventories such as supplies, equipment and consumables
  • Selection of test methodology that is appropriate for the clinical use of the test results
  • Verification of the test procedures performed and establishment of the laboratory's test performance characteristics, including the precision and accuracy of each test and test system
Job Requirements
Required
  • Bachelors Other in biological or chemical sciences, as defined by CLIA.
  • Minimum of five years at a moderate or high complexity laboratory.
  • Medical Technologist - License
  • Fire Safety, within 90 Days
Preferred
  • One year experience as a supervisor or higher
