As our Medical Lab Technologist, you will perform vital clinical laboratory procedures to detect, identify, measure, and report data crucial for disease diagnosis and treatment.

Every day, you will expertly conduct waived and moderate procedures using technical skills, instrumentation, and information systems, providing essential clinical laboratory support while ensuring the quality and accuracy of all tests under leadership direction.

Qualifications

• One year of experience as a Lab Assistant or Technician in a clinical laboratory preferred.
• AA degree in chemical, physical, biological or clinical laboratory science with a minimum of 36 semester units of physical or biological science.
• Continuing education requirements must be maintained.
• Current CA MLT license.
• Current Los Angeles City fire card is required.
• Knowledgeable in MS Windows, Word and Excel.

Responsibilities

• Align lab test procedures with SOPs to ensure accurate reporting.
• Provide patient care through clinical correlation of results and rapid notification of critical values.
• Maintain major automated equipment through calibration, maintenance and troubleshooting; contact vendor if needed.
• Perform calibration and quality control procedures and maintain records.
• Perform proficiency testing and review results with laboratory leaders.
• Assist in evaluation and documentation of new procedures and equipment to provide up-to-date laboratory technology to physicians.

Job Summary and Responsibilities

As our Medical Lab Technologist, you will perform vital clinical laboratory procedures to detect, identify, measure, and report data crucial for disease diagnosis and treatment.

Every day, you will expertly conduct waived and moderate procedures using technical skills, instrumentation, and information systems, providing essential clinical laboratory support while ensuring the quality and accuracy of all tests under leadership direction.

To be successful in this role, you will possess comprehensive knowledge of laboratory principles across various disciplines (microbiology, hematology, chemistry, etc.), understand sample processing and result interpretation, prioritize chemical and biological safety, and be adept at operating and maintaining lab equipment.

• Aligning with local and state requirements performs lab test procedures on patient specimens adhering to the Section's Standard Operating Procedures to ensure accurate, timely reporting.
• Provides excellent patient care through clinical correlation of results, identification of patterns of bias, rapid notification of appropriate caregivers of critical values, and completion of testing within established turn-around-time limits
• Ensures that major automated equipment is operational by performing required maintenance, calibration and troubleshooting procedures; including contacting of instrument vendor for assistance or repair
• Performs required calibration and quality control procedures and maintains records to ensure tests are being performed within established parameters
• Performs proficiency testing as assigned and review results with laboratory clinical leaders
• Assists in evaluation and generation of compliant documentation for the validation of new procedures and equipment to provide the physician with the most current laboratory technology

Job Requirements

• One year of experience as a Lab Assistant or Technician in a clinical laboratory preferred.
• AA degree in chemical, physical, biological or clinical laboratory science, including a minimum of 36 semester units of physical or biological science from an accredited college or university.
• Continuing education requirements must be maintained
• Knowledgeable in MS Windows Operating System MS Word and MS Excel.
• Current CA MLT license.
• Current Los Angeles City fire card is required.
