Job summary

Piedmont Atlanta Hospital in Georgia is seeking a Laboratory Supervisor to oversee daily operations, ensuring accurate procedures in support of diagnosis and treatment. You will supervise staff and ensure maintenance of analyzers and quality control, specimen collection, and supply management.

The role requires a Bachelor’s in Medical Technology and ASCP-type certification with supervisory experience preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Medical Technology or a closely related field required.
• Other bachelor's degrees accepted if coursework meets certifying agency requirements; degree may be waived for certain certified technologists.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct supervision of daily laboratory operations.

The supervisor will oversee that the maintenance of the analyzers, quality control, collection of specimens, maintaining of supplies in accordance with standards of practice and established policy and procedure. The supervisor will provide recommendations and action plans for the improvement of system processes in their section and/or area.

Qualifications

Education

• Bachelor's Degree from a recognized college or university in Medical Technology or a closely related field is Required
• Other bachelor's degrees will be accepted if graduated from an accredited school and science and math coursework meet requirement of certifying agency. Bachelor's degree may be waived for a medical technologist who was ASCP certified in the years prior to the bachelor's degree requirements by ASCP and a HEW/HSS technologist certified by Health and Human Services.

Work Experience

• 3 years of clinical experience preferably in an acute care hospital setting. Required
• Demonstrated clinical competency in the specialty area applying for Required
• Previous supervisory experience Preferred

Licenses and Certifications

• Management of Clinical Laboratory only: Certification in medical technology; certification as a medical technologist or medical laboratory scientist by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP), AMT (American Medical Technologists) or AAB (American Association of Bioanalysts) . AAB provisional certification not accepted Required
