Laboratory Supervisor

The Laboratory Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the laboratory per shift, ensuring high-quality patient care while meeting regulatory and compliance standards. The individual manages staff performance, interactions, and work quality, and is accountable for clinical operations, instrumentation, and testing processes to ensure smooth, error-free operations. Compliance with regulatory agencies is mandatory.

Responsibilities:

1. Oversee daily laboratory operations per shift in line with departmental goals.
2. Ensure regulatory compliance and review quality control data.
3. Adhere to institutional and departmental safety policies.
4. Manage human resources: recruit, discipline, orient, train staff, evaluate performance, and schedule.
5. Foster a respectful work environment aligned with Montefiore standards.
6. Investigate and resolve issues, problems, and complaints from staff and management.
7. Manage materials, reagents, and supplies inventory.
8. Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

1. Bachelor's Degree required.
2. Minimum 6 years of bench experience as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist (CLT), with 2 years substitutable by a Master's degree in Science or Arts.
3. NYS DOE Clinical Laboratory Technologist license required; ASCP registration or equivalent preferred.
4. Proficiency with laboratory and hospital information systems, automated equipment, and laboratory instruments.
5. Knowledge of regulatory requirements, laboratory policies, and procedures.
6. Strong communication skills and ability to manage stressful situations.

This position is located in the Rapid Response Lab at the Wakefield campus, working hours from 4:00 pm to 12:30 am, Monday through Friday.
