Qualifications

  • Associate Degree in Business or related field required.
  • Minimum 3 years of inventory control, warehouse, or manufacturing experience.
  • Minimum 2 years of supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience working with ERP systems; SAP experience preferred.
  • APICS / ASCM certification preferred.

Inventory Control Supervisor

The Inventory Control Supervisor is responsible for leading the Inventory Control team and overseeing all inventory transaction processes supporting manufacturing, warehousing, shipping, and customer order fulfillment. This position ensures inventory accuracy across Raw Materials, WIP, and Finished Goods while maintaining timely and accurate production reporting, work order processing, inventory adjustments, cycle counting, and shipment invoicing activities. The Inventory Control Supervisor drives inventory accuracy, process compliance, employee development, and continuous improvement initiatives while supporting the organization's transition from AS400/PRMS to SAP. This position is critical to maintaining operational efficiency, inventory accuracy and customer satisfaction.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Leadership, Staffing, Performance Management & Operational Oversight (35%) Lead, coach, and develop a team of Inventory Control personnel, directly supervising a team of two or more employees. Determine staffing priorities, work assignments, schedules, and resource allocation to achieve departmental objectives. Participate in recruiting, interviewing, hiring, onboarding, disciplinary actions, promotions, and termination decisions. Conduct performance evaluations and provide ongoing performance feedback. Coordinate cross‑training activities to ensure adequate departmental coverage and business continuity. Approve employee time and attendance records. Provide leadership support and operational coverage for critical inventory, shipping, and order‑processing activities as needed. Foster a culture of accountability, accuracy, teamwork, safety, and continuous improvement.

Inventory Control Strategy & Compliance (30%) Lead all inventory control activities for Raw Material, Work‑in‑Process, and Finished Goods inventories. Manage and oversee the cycle count program, inventory reconciliation processes, and physical inventory activities. Investigate, analyze, and resolve inventory discrepancies and transaction errors. Review and approve inventory adjustments while ensuring compliance with company policies, audit requirements, and established procedures. Monitor inventory accuracy metrics and implement corrective actions to improve key performance indicators. Oversee customer return transactions and inventory reprocessing activities. Provide guidance and support for complex inventory and transaction‑related issues. Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, audit controls, and safety requirements.

Transaction & Production Reporting Oversight (20%) Oversee daily shipment transaction processing and invoicing activities. Ensure completed shipments are processed timely and invoiced accurately. Support replenishment order processing and customer order fulfillment activities. Ensure accurate labor and production reporting within the ERP system. Supervise work order receipt processing and manufacturing order closures. Ensure finished goods are accurately received into inventory upon completion. Monitor transaction accuracy and resolve reporting discrepancies. Assist with month‑end and year‑end inventory and financial close requirements.

Process Improvement & SAP Implementation (15%) Serve as the department subject matter expert for inventory control and transaction‑related processes. Identify and implement opportunities to improve inventory accuracy, transaction accuracy, process compliance, and operational efficiency. Support ERP system enhancements and process improvement initiatives. Participate in SAP implementation activities, including process mapping, testing, validation, training, and deployment.

CRITICAL FUNCTIONAL SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE

Strong knowledge of inventory control principles and warehouse operations. Strong understanding of manufacturing transaction processing and work order management. Experience with ERP systems such as AS400, PRMS, SAP, Oracle, or equivalent systems. Advanced Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office skills. Strong knowledge of cycle counting, inventory reconciliation, and inventory auditing practices. Knowledge of shipping, invoicing, and order fulfillment processes. Ability to train and develop employees within a manufacturing environment.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

Associate Degree in Business, Supply Chain, or related field required; experience considered. Minimum three (3) years of inventory control, warehouse, manufacturing experience. Minimum two (2) years of supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment. Experience working within ERP systems required; SAP experience preferred. APICS / ASCM certification preferred.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Heavy PC and ERP system usage. Frequent interaction with manufacturing, warehouse, and shipping operations. Above‑average exposure to manufacturing environments. Must be flexible to support multiple production shifts and occasional weekend operations as business conditions require. Must be available to support physical inventories, system implementations, and operational emergencies when necessary.
