Job summary

University at Buffalo is seeking a Supervisor, Infrastructure Design to lead the Infrastructure Design Team within the Network and Communication Services unit. Qualifications

Position Summary

The Network and Communication Services (NCS) unitis searching for a Supervisor of the Infrastructure DesignTeam who will manage the team supporting the voice and data infrastructure at the University at Buffalo. As a Supervisor, it is expected that you will mentorand develop employees, including developing training plans, andensuring your teams share skills and knowledge. As a leader, is itexpected that you will understand the technical environmentsurrounding the voice and data infrastructure at the University. This is a campus-based position with the possibility ofhybrid-work.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate with university constituencies to meet needs anddeliver consistent services
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and Universityregulations and policies, as well as industry best practices (CSI,NFPA, etc.)
• Identify risks that need to be managed by standards and create,establish, and enforce relevant standards, particularly CSIDivision 27, to manage those risks
• Plan, assess risks, budget, and manage service lifecycles
• Consult, project manage, and develop IT policies
• Maintain inventories and recommend resources
• Supervise personnel: Monitor workloads, communicate issues, andhandle administrative tasks
• Mentor and develop employees, schedule work, and maintainservice coverage
• Recruit, retain, and manage team performance and handlepersonnel issues
• Provide technical advice and stay updated on current andemerging technologies
• Develop project plans and lead project teams
• Mentor and develop employees, enable training opportunities,and guide career development

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree with 3 years of experience OR master's degreewith 1 year of experience; Equivalent combination of education andexperience will be considered. This experience should encompassmany technical aspects of network and communication services in alarge environment with more than 1000 users.
• Two years of experience in managing a technical team
• This position requires local travel between each universitycampus and off-campus. This position will also have to visit activeconstruction sites to view and audit in-progress voice and datainstallations. Must have the ability to demonstrate that thecandidate can meet the transportation needs of this position.

Preferred Qualifications

• Six years of experience managing service delivery teams in aUniversity or similar environment
• Demonstrated supervisory skills
• Demonstrated skills in handling personnel and interpersonalissues
• Prepare and write appraisals and performance programs
• Conduct recruitment efforts as well as employee dismissals

Physical Demands

• Occasionally must ascend or descend a ladder, use standardtelecommunications tools/ equipment, and differentiate colors usedfor standard wire coding.
• The person in this position needs to occasionally move about tovisit active construction sites.

Salary Range

$100,000 - $115,000
