Job summary

Rapid City Area Schools is seeking a facilities supervisor to oversee the HVAC/Plumbing program and supervise plumbing work across district facilities. You will coordinate schedules, supervise contractors, and ensure safety and quality in all projects.

The role requires managing maintenance, remodeling, and construction support, estimating costs, and maintaining equipment and tools district-wide. Strong leadership and safety focus are essential.

Responsibilities

  • A. Supervise and operate the HVAC/Plumbing program.
  • B. Supervises and responsible for all plumbing work performed by service providers, Plumber, Plumber Apprentice, and HVAC Mechanic.
  • C. Coordinate work schedules and activities with support staff and building administrators.
  • D. Conduct authorized financial transactions per procurement requirements.
  • E. Instruct personnel in plumbing and pipe fitting methods and see that safety and health standards are maintained.
  • F. Inspect in-progress and completed jobs for quality of work and proper installation.
  • G. Estimate labor and material costs, make layouts and drawings, and prepare equipment and job specifications.
  • H. Investigate work requests for plumbing, boiler, and HVAC work.
  • I. Complete customer requests for boiler, HVAC, and plumbing work.
  • J. Check and inspect shop work to be sure that it meets the quality of work and material standards. Monitor for and report unsafe conditions.
  • K. Perform maintenance and repairs to include preventive maintenance at all district facilities on systems and equipment.
  • L. Perform remodeling projects.
  • M. Support construction projects.
  • N. Observe and report needed repair of equipment, furnishings, fixtures, buildings and site, and perform minor maintenance. Order and replenish supplies through District Warehouse and Office of Buildings and Grounds.
  • O. Maintain assigned vehicle, tools, and equipment. Check the condition of equipment, tools, and material and recommend repair, replacement, and addition of new equipment and tools. Inspect machinery and power tools for hazards.
  • P. Inspect work in progress and conduct final inspection. Advise the Manager of Buildings and Grounds of material changes against approved jobs. Inspect buildings for safety of operation as directed.
  • Q. Inspect grounds and facilities for damage, wear, safety, appearance, and proper maintenance.
  • R. Maintain confidentiality regarding school/workplace matters.
  • S. Manager of Buildings and Grounds and immediate Supervisor will determine work schedule.
  • T. Monitor and comply with federal, state, and district policies and procedures.
  • U. Perform other related duties as assigned.
