Job summary

GOODWILL OF CENTRAL AND COASTAL VIRGINIA INC is seeking a Supervisor Floor Technician (Construction) for night shifts. The role involves leading a floor care team, cleaning sales floors and restrooms across 18 retail locations in the central region, and coordinating with the Director and Multi-Site Manager.

Responsibilities include training staff in cleaning techniques, scheduling work, and performing floor stripping and waxing as needed.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • 3 years' experience in a related field required.
  • Valid state driver’s license and satisfactory driving record required.
  • Criminal background and sex offender checks required.

Supervisor Floor Technician (Construction)

The hours for this position will be 9:00 pm-5:30 am Monday through Friday, and occasionally, there will be weekend work. You will be part of a team that travels throughout our central region, cleaning the sales floors and restrooms of our 18 retail locations.

Position Summary

Provide supervision and training to associates in the performance of floor care duties and perform floor stripping/waxing as requested by the Director, Sr. Manager or Multi- Site Manager.

Essential Duties (Other duties within the scope of this position may be assigned.)
  • Supervise floor care team and direct efforts as provided by the Multi- Site Manager, Sr. Manager or Director.
  • Train associates in floor care and janitorial skills, proper cleaning techniques and schedules, usage and conservation of supplies, operation of equipment, safety practices, and other company rules and regulations.
  • Responsible for floor work at contract sites and Goodwill retail locations according to schedule established by Director, Sr. Manager or Multi- Site Manager. This includes dust mopping, wet mopping, stripping and waxing, buffing, carpet extraction and other floor care duties as needed.
  • Clean floor equipment after each use and perform routine maintenance as needed. Notifies supervisor of any equipment needing repair.
  • Drive company van/truck to transport equipment to offsite work areas.
  • May be required to perform the following on an as-needed basis, dusting, restroom cleaning.
Supervisory Responsibilities

The associate in this position has supervisory responsibility for designated associates in their department.

Education/Experience/Certificates/Security Clearance
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • 3 Years' experience in a related field required.
  • No professional certifications are required for this position.
  • Valid state driver's license, insurance and satisfactory driving record are required.
  • Associates in this position will be required to successfully pass a criminal background check and sex offender check.
  • No computer skills are required.

Physical Demands/Work Environment/Work Conditions

The associate is required to lift up to 50 pounds with frequent lifting and/or carrying objects weighing up to 25 pounds. The associate works in a moderate work environment with occasional exposure to extreme atmospheric conditions (temperature, noise, fumes, dust, etc.). The associate is required to travel throughout the Goodwill service area. The associate may be required to provide assistance with snow removal. The associate must be available to work evenings and/or weekends as business needs dictate. Assists in special jobs, during scheduled work hours and on weekends, as requested by the manager.
