Job summary

ChampionX in Odessa, TX seeks a Variable Speed Drive Supervisor to lead VSD technicians and ensure safe, efficient daily work on drive systems.

You will interpret electrical schematics and PLC/VFD documentation, coordinate with Engineering, Applications, Quality and Supply Chain, and drive root-cause analysis to improve uptime and throughput.

Experience with ERP work orders and BOM validation is a plus, with strong leadership and communication skills required.

Qualifications

• 5 years of experience with VSDs/VFDs in manufacturing or industrial settings.
• Experience in ESP industry (service, engineering, repair, or manufacturing).
• Proficiency with ERP systems (Oracle, SAP) for work orders and production tracking.

Responsibilities

• Supervise daily activities of VSD technicians, including assembly, programming, testing, troubleshooting, and maintenance.
• Ensure safe and efficient workflow aligned with manufacturing and ESP operational goals.
• Coordinate with Engineering, Applications, Quality, and Supply Chain to resolve product issues and implement process improvements.
• Review and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, single-line diagrams, and PLC/VFD documentation to support technical troubleshooting.
• Lead root-cause analysis for equipment failures, electrical issues, and production defects.
• Maintain ERP-driven workflows for production orders, inventory accuracy, BOM validation, and work order completion.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives aimed at reducing downtime, improving quality, and enhancing operational throughput.
• Train and develop VSD personnel in product knowledge, safe work practices, and troubleshooting methods.
• Ensure compliance with company safety policies and electrical standards.
