Job summary

Medican? (Note: ensure company name remains Mediacom Communications) Mediacom Communications is seeking a Supervisor, Construction to lead field crews, manage schedules, and ensure safe, on-time delivery of network installations. You will oversee permits, coordinate with utilities, and drive quality control across projects.

Responsibilities include directing personnel, reviewing invoices, maintaining inventory, and communicating progress while enforcing safety standards on all sites.

Qualifications

  • 2–3 years of cable construction experience with progressive supervisor responsibility.
  • Ability to read and utilize system maps and plans.
  • Knowledge of construction and electrical codes and safety precautions.
  • Valid driver’s license with satisfactory driving record.
  • ACAD experience preferred; MS Office experience preferred; procurement exposure helpful.

Responsibilities

  • Direct personnel, materials, and equipment to assigned locations within the system.
  • Draw and sketch installation locations for equipment such as amplifiers and cabling.
  • Obtain all required permits, easements, and related authorizations.
  • Prepare material orders for construction and review invoices from contractors.
  • Inspect installations for compliance with work specs and safety requirements.
  • Log work, prepare progress reports, and communicate potential progress blockers.
  • Travel to inspect progress and quality of projects; liaison with utilities and agencies.
  • Hire, supervise, evaluate, and discipline field personnel as needed.
  • Maintain equipment and inventory to ensure optimal plant operations.

Direct all phases of construction, ensuring contractors perform work in the best interest of the Company. Responsible for the safety and progression of construction activity and personnel.

Position Overview

Lead construction efforts, manage personnel, and ensure compliance with project specifications and safety standards.

Position Responsibilities
  • Draw and sketch installation and locations of equipment such as amplifiers, power supplies, and cable
  • Obtain all required permits, easements, etc.
  • Prepare material orders for construction
  • Direct personnel, materials, and equipment to assigned locations within the system
  • Inspect pole installations to ensure compliance with work specifications
  • Log work completed and prepare progress reports as required
  • Provide information on potential problems that might impede progress
  • Travel to and inspect regularly the progress and quality of construction projects performed by system personnel
  • Monitor compliance with terms and conditions of construction contracts with outside firms
  • Review invoices from contracting firms and monitor progress, performance, quality, timeliness, and proper utilization of Mediacom materials
  • Interview, hire, monitor, evaluate, and discipline field personnel
  • Implement quality control checks and monitor safety practices
  • Develop and maintain good relations with utilities, the general public, and governmental agencies
  • Maintain required equipment and material levels through inventory procedures, planning, ordering, and conservation of physical resources to ensure optimal plant operations
  • Act as a liaison between other departments
  • Perform quality control inspections on all field personnel regularly to assure quality and recommend additional training as needed
  • Climb ladders, towers, or other structures as needed; carry and lift loads of up to 100 pounds; use bucket truck when required
  • Perform other duties as required
Position Requirements
  • 2–3 years of cable construction experience, including progressive supervisor experience
  • Ability to read and utilize system maps and plans
  • Knowledge of construction and electrical codes (related state and local codes) and safety precautions
  • Valid driver’s license with satisfactory driving record
  • ACAD experience preferred
  • Microsoft Office experience preferred (Excel, Word, Outlook)
  • Procurement experience preferred
