Job summary

Mediacom Communications Corporation is seeking a Supervisor to oversee all inhouse aerial construction, ensure safety and progress, and coordinate crews and equipment. The role requires strong leadership and field oversight across assigned operational areas in the network.

You will manage permits, inspect installations, and collaborate with utilities and public agencies while maintaining quality and timelines. This position is based on site with travel as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• DOT Physical ability required.
• Valid driver’s license with satisfactory record.
• Knowledge of construction tools and equipment.
• Office software experience (Excel, Word, Outlook).
• Willingness to travel as needed.

Responsibilities

• Oversee all inhouse Aerial Construction for assigned areas.
• Draw and sketch installation locations for equipment.
• Ensure permits/easements are acquired as needed.
• Approve material orders for construction.
• Direct personnel, materials, and equipment to locations.
• Inspect pole installations for compliance with specs.
• Log work and prepare progress reports.
• Travel to sites to inspect progress and quality.
• Supervise field personnel and conduct disciplinary actions.

Position Overview:

Supervises all phases of aerial construction and verifies that in-house aerial crews perform work according to the best interest of the Company. Responsible for the safety and progress of construction activity and personnel.

Position Responsibilities:

• Oversee all inhouse Aerial Construction for assigned operational areas.
• Draw and sketch installation and location of equipment, such as amplifiers, power supplies and cable.
• Ensure required permits, easements, etc. are acquired as needed.
• Approve material orders for construction.
• Direct personnel, materials, and equipment to given locations within the system.
• Inspect pole installations to ensure compliance with work specifications.
• Log work completed and prepare progress reports as required.
• Provide information as directed, about problems or potential problems, which might impede progress.
• Travel to and regularly inspect the progress and quality of construction projects performed by system personnel.
• Perform interviewing, hiring, monitoring, evaluating, and disciplining of field personnel.
• Monitor safety practices and holding safety meetings as required.
• Develop and maintain good relations with utilities, general public and governmental agencies.
• Ensure thorough inventory procedures, required equipment and material levels by effective planning, ordering and conservation of physical resources, to ensure optimum plant operations.
• Act as a liaison between other departments.
• Responsible for performing quality control inspections on all field personnel on a regular basis to assure quality and recommend additional training as needed.
• Perform other duties as required.

Position Requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalent required. Associates degree preferred.
• Preferred - 2 years’ experience as a CATV Construction lineman or 4+ years’ as a Broadband Specialist IV or V system technician or equivalent cable technician experience.
• Preferred – 1 to 2 years’ supervisory experience.
• Valid Driver’s license; satisfactory driving record
• Ability to pass a DOT Physical
• Knowledge of all construction tools and equipment including bucket trucks, lasher, blocks, pulling grips, stand/cable trailers, cable layers, hoists, bolt cutters, lay-up sticks and hand lines.
• Knowledge of construction, electrical codes (related state and local codes), NESC, NEC codes and safety precautions.
• Ability to work flexible work hours, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and overtime as required.
• Ability to read and utilize system maps and plans.
• Ability to travel and stay out of town when required.
• Ability to interact with customers and co-workers; ability to communicate verbally.
• Good written and oral communication skills.
• Microsoft Office experience preferred (Excel-Word-Outlook)

Physical Requirements:

• Physical effort represented by frequent handling of heavy objects (approx. 50-100 lbs.) and materials, or heavy hand tools.
