The Supervisor, Clinical Data Software Management, will oversee all clinical data management and data software engineering operations. This position supports overseeing the implementation and design of data schemas, data modeling, data ingestion pipelines, and workflows to ensure high-quality data deliverables. The Supervisor will supervise staff within the Clinical Data Software Management team of Clinical Data Operations.
Primary Responsibilities
- Lead and oversee all daily operations of clinical data management and data software engineering/analyst staff.
- Participate in cross-functional meetings as a subject matter expert to ensure technical requirements are considered in developing reliable, extensible applications, services, solutions, data pipelines, and reports.
- Translate technical plans into operational processes and guide team execution to meet project goals, budgets, and timelines.
- Manage design alternatives, architectural proposals, code reviews, and verification of software, applications, services, data pipelines, and reports, providing timeline recommendations to the Director.
- Develop software specifications based on product requirements and implement software components.
- Analyze and resolve defects in applications, services, solutions, data pipelines, or reports.
- Create unit tests and coordinate testing with the team and cross-functional partners.
- Write SQL, Python, and ETL code for querying clinical and genomic data.
- Utilize AWS services to design, deploy, and manage scalable data pipelines and storage solutions.
- Create data marts, perform data transformations, and automate Airflow processes.
- Conduct code reviews and recommend solutions, implementing them when appropriate.
- Implement department policies, procedures, and best practices.
- Conduct performance reviews and provide growth feedback.
- Support hiring and onboarding processes, and develop KPIs for the team.
- Maintain relationships with stakeholders and ensure effective communication.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- BSc in computer science or related field, or equivalent experience.
- 8+ years of software development experience, especially with complex data applications.
- Experience with SQL databases (Postgres, Snowflake, Redshift, Athena), SQL, and ETL processes.
- Proficiency with applications like Excel/Macros, Quicksight, Tableau, or similar.
- Experience with AWS services such as Redshift and S3.
- Experience handling large datasets and data management principles.
- Track record of building and operating distributed data systems.
- Effective communication skills with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Leadership and mentoring skills in software engineering.
- Understanding of software engineering best practices and agile methodologies.

- Ability to work independently and in teams.
- Strong organizational, communication, and analytical skills.
- Attention to detail and quick learning ability.
- Experience in startup or regulated environments is a plus.
- High initiative and self-motivation.
- Familiarity with medical terminology and object-oriented programming.
- Experience with cloud infrastructure, especially AWS.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Openness to new programming paradigms and diversity in engineering.
- Healthcare IT experience is preferred.
Compensation Information
The salary range is $118,600—$148,300 USD, based on experience, skills, and location.
