Job summary

UPMC Presbyterian is seeking a Full-Time Central Sterile Processing Supervisor to lead daily operations, ensure top-tier sterilization, decontamination, and distribution of surgical instruments, and mentor a skilled team.

You will partner with the manager to maintain regulatory compliance, drive safety and quality, coordinate training, and participate in staffing, evaluations, and strategic planning to support hospital-wide surgical services.

Responsibilities

• Lead daily operations of the department, ensuring top-tier cleaning, decontamination, sterilization, assembly, and distribution of surgical instruments.

• Serve as a key resource for clinical teams, solving issues, answering questions, and ensuring service excellence.
• Partner with the manager to maintain compliance with regulatory and safety standards.
• Drive performance improvement and help spread best practices across the department and hospital.
• Champion education and development by coordinating internal and external training opportunities.
• Lead initiatives that promote diversity, team wellness, and a positive work culture.

At UPMC Presbyterian, we’re looking for a Central Sterile Processing Supervisor to guide operations, mentor staff, and ensure the highest standards of safety, precision, and patient care.

What It Takes:

• High School Graduate or equivalent.
• 3 years experience in central sterile processing.
• 2 years supervisory or team leader experience required.
• Ability to communicate effectively with peers, physicians, staff of other hospital departments, and outside contacts.
• Must complete 10 hours of continuing education to remain qualified as a Central Sterile Technician on an annual basis.
• Must be able to stand for all shift hours and be able to pick up, push, pull etc. 35 pounds.

Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:

• Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution OR Certified Registered Central Service Technician with Healthcare Sterile Processing Association
• Act 34
