JOB DESCRIPTION

JOB TITLE: Supervisor-Building Automation

REPORTS TO: Energy Manager

WAGE/HOUR STATUS: Non-Exempt

PAY GRADE: AUX 10

PRIMARY PURPOSE:

The Supervisor-Building Automation plays an essential role in the success of the SISD energy department. Responsible for maintaining the SISD building automation system to ensure the building environment's high standards. The Supervisor-Building Automation will supervise the district technicians, contractors, and preventative maintenance tasks.

The Supervisor-Building Automation will lead and supervise the district technicians with instruction and training for industrial growth. Responsible for routine building automation maintenance, troubleshooting, and detailed records for department success.

The Supervisor-Building Automation will work directly with the Energy Manager on energy measures projects within the district and collaborate with other district departments to provide high standards of service.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Required:

  • High School Graduate/GED from an accredited institution
  • 5 years of experience building automation experience
  • 2 years of supervisor experience
  • Experience replacing building automation device and components including current transformers (CTs), sensors, controllers, actuators and similar equipment
  • Experience with HVAC/BAS-related tools for instrumentation, calibration, and testing automation equipment
  • Experience in interpret plans, design specifications, diagrams, schematics, manufacturing manuals, flow charts, and control sequences
  • Possess a valid Texas Driver’s License

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
  • Report to the Energy Manager on findings and building automation performance
  • Supervise automation building technicians, energy auditors, and contractors in the field
  • Supervise operations by calibrating sensors; adjusting pressure-sensitive status switches; making changes to existing points by moving sensors and equipment, changing control strategy, and upgrading equipment
  • Replace building automation devices and components including current transformers (CTs), sensors, controllers, and actuators.
  • Calibrate and test automation equipment
  • Interpret plans, design specifications, diagrams, schematics, manufacturing manuals, flow charts and control sequences.
  • Maintain current systems by implementing preventative maintenance programs and schedules
  • Coordinate with suppliers, contractors, and engineers concerning equipment operations
  • Install of new equipment by assembling parts and programming components
  • Perform routine maintenance by restoring and repairing equipment and systems
  • Troubleshooting automation control system pertaining to air distribution, air handlers, valves, variable speed equipment, exhaust systems, lighting, chill water, and boiler systems
  • Establish, assign, and adjust work methods and procedures to meet deadlines
  • Inspect work in process and completed for acceptable standards
  • Instruct technicians on best practices of problem-solving, calibration, and testing equipment
  • Communicate and document methods to reduce district operational costs
  • Keep detailed records of daily tasks and projects
  • Maintain supplies inventory of parts for repair and replacement
  • Maintain a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations
  • Perform other duties as assigned
WORKING/SPECIAL CONDITIONS:

Work requires sufficient strength, agility, dexterity, and hand-eye-foot coordination to perform all essential tasks, including operating and using all tools, equipment and vehicles; lifting and carrying objects weighing up to 50 pounds; walking, standing, stooping, bending, kneeling, and working in tiring and uncomfortable positions for extended periods of time; climbing and working from ladders up to 25 feet high. Work is performed both inside and outside school district buildings and facilities, and often requires working unusual hours and may be designated for 24 hour on-call. Employees are exposed to a wide range of climatic conditions, dust, flammable or toxic chemicals, and loud noises. Employee is also exposed to potential electrical shock and other physical hazards when working on electronic components and systems, operating tools and equipment, and working in high or cramped spaces. Work requires vision necessary to determine color differences. Employees are required to wear and use safety clothing and equipment and to comply with safety policies and procedures. Must be able to handle stressful situations as necessary.
