Position Overview
The Accounts Receivable Collections Supervisor is primarily responsible for supervising the day-to-day activities of the office, ensuring efficient healthcare billing operations.
Essential Duties
- Supervise healthcare services billing office staff, assign tasks, monitor performance, and conduct performance evaluations.
- Review work for accuracy and timeliness, resolve issues, and ensure compliance with policies and regulations.
- Train staff on procedures, update documentation, and communicate changes effectively.
- Develop and implement billing and collection policies and procedures.
- Provide guidance on billing and collection policies, resolve departmental issues, and clarify procedures.
- Assist in budget development through data analysis and reporting.
- Evaluate operational procedures and recommend improvements.
- Support the development and maintenance of automated systems supporting billing operations.
- Review correspondence from Medicare, Medi-Cal, and other payors, and resolve billing issues to facilitate reimbursement.
- Prepare management reports, analyze trends, and make strategic recommendations.
- Serve as a resource for internal and external inquiries.
- Develop and implement security procedures, coordinate with Public Safety, and promote security awareness.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Associate's degree in a related field preferred.
- At least 3 years of experience in medical billing, coding, and collections.
- Working knowledge of CPT-4, ICD-9-CM coding, and billing systems like IDX.
- Understanding of laws governing collection efforts.
Preferred Qualifications
- Additional certifications or training related to healthcare billing and collections.
Licenses/Certifications
- Fire Life Safety Training (LA City) required within 30 days of hire if applicable.
Additional Information
The annual salary range is $68,640 - $112,370. USC considers various factors in employment decisions, including experience, education, and market conditions.
