Position Overview

The Accounts Receivable Collections Supervisor is primarily responsible for supervising the day-to-day activities of the office, ensuring efficient healthcare billing operations.

Essential Duties
  1. Supervise healthcare services billing office staff, assign tasks, monitor performance, and conduct performance evaluations.
  2. Review work for accuracy and timeliness, resolve issues, and ensure compliance with policies and regulations.
  3. Train staff on procedures, update documentation, and communicate changes effectively.
  4. Develop and implement billing and collection policies and procedures.
  5. Provide guidance on billing and collection policies, resolve departmental issues, and clarify procedures.
  6. Assist in budget development through data analysis and reporting.
  7. Evaluate operational procedures and recommend improvements.
  8. Support the development and maintenance of automated systems supporting billing operations.
  9. Review correspondence from Medicare, Medi-Cal, and other payors, and resolve billing issues to facilitate reimbursement.
  10. Prepare management reports, analyze trends, and make strategic recommendations.
  11. Serve as a resource for internal and external inquiries.
  12. Develop and implement security procedures, coordinate with Public Safety, and promote security awareness.
  13. Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Associate's degree in a related field preferred.
  • At least 3 years of experience in medical billing, coding, and collections.
  • Working knowledge of CPT-4, ICD-9-CM coding, and billing systems like IDX.
  • Understanding of laws governing collection efforts.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Additional certifications or training related to healthcare billing and collections.
Licenses/Certifications
  • Fire Life Safety Training (LA City) required within 30 days of hire if applicable.
Additional Information

The annual salary range is $68,640 - $112,370. USC considers various factors in employment decisions, including experience, education, and market conditions.
