Job summary

Westinghouse Electric, through WECTEC Staffing Services, seeks a Supervisor to lead mechanical crews on site in the United States. You will supervise daily activities, enforce safety and quality standards, and coordinate with the General Superintendent to keep projects on schedule.

The role emphasizes coaching, incident reporting, pre-job briefings, and effective communication with safety teams and site management. Industry experience is required. Competitive compensation is offered.

Qualifications

  • Three years successful performance at the supervisory level.
  • Five years at the journeyman craft level, or an Associate Degree and three years at the journeyman level.
  • Experience supervising mechanical teams in a large industrial setting is preferred.

Your Day‑to‑Day:
  • Responsible for the supervision, daily coordination of support activities for WECTEC mechanical employees and ensure assigned scope of activities are performed in a safe, effective, and cost efficient manner in accordance with WECTEC and the client's policies and procedures.
  • Reports directly to the General Superintendent.
  • Responsible for the mechanical discipline WECTEC employees adherence to WECTEC and customer standards for Safety, Error Prevention, Work Quality, Schedule Adherence, and craft Productivity for work.
  • Participate in the supervisory observation program.
  • Provide coaching and mentoring for direct reports, other supervisors, and all WECTEC craft.
  • Responsible for the day‑to‑day direct supervision and oversight of all mechanical non‑manual and manual craft assigned to scope of mechanical work.
  • Communicates to all employees that personal medical conditions or restrictions must be reported to the Safety Representative.
  • Communicates to all employees that any work‑related injury or illness must be reported to WECTEC Safety or Site Safety immediately.
  • Immediately communicates all injuries to WECTEC Safety Manager/Director.
  • Accompanies the injured employee to Occupational Health Site (OHS), assists OHS in the collection of relevant information.
  • Completes the field investigation and required documentation for Level 2 or Level 3 HU events, injury, or illness; initiates a Site Corrective Action Program Condition Report (CR) and ensures review by the respective Project Superintendent before publication (electronic input may be by the CAP Coordinator).
  • Ensures safety reports are completed (including photos, personal statements, or witness statements) and sent to the Safety Manager/Director before departing the work shift on the day of an incident, injury, or illness.
  • Conducts and documents a Post‑Accident Safety Meeting with the respective work crew for all Level 2 and Level 3 injuries or illnesses and assists the Project Superintendent in communicating the incident details during shift brief.
  • Assists the Site Manager in communicating the incident details at the shift briefs and to WECTEC senior management on the Site Manager's morning call, detailing the preventative measures implemented.
  • Organizes and manages all assigned work tasks/activities to meet site schedule and goals.
  • Ensures detailed pre‑job briefings are delivered on a daily basis through personal presentation or participation. Attends all pre‑job briefs for critical activities, such as work in a trip‑sensitive area, and documents attendance on the Pre‑job sign‑in sheet.
  • Participates in the High Rad Brief with the crew requiring entry into a High Rad area and ensures crew signatures on the correct RWP and adequate three‑way communication with an RP Technician using appropriate maps. Maintains positive control up to the boundary for crew personnel for first entry to a high rad area and as necessary thereafter.
  • Identifies barriers to success and aggressively pursues permanent changes to increase productivity.
  • Performs walk‑downs, constructability reviews, and estimates and determines manpower needs during work planning.
  • Conducts periodic field tours, inspecting and observing all preparation and job locations including Confined Spaces (water box, condenser steam space, pipe tunnels, etc.), High Rad Areas (Dry Well, Building Sump Areas, etc.), and outlying fabrication facilities before (as access permits) and during the outage.

We are committed to transparency and equity in all of our people practices. The base salary range for this position, which is dependent upon experience, qualifications and skills, is estimated to be $75.00 to $95.00 per hour.
