Job description

Position Philosophy: The duties of the Supervisor position are to be performed by demonstrating and encouraging Timberline Ace Hardware’s core values in order to achieve our vision of being the place that locals can rely on and visitors must see.

The Supervisor shares in the responsibility for the overall performance of the store and assists Store Management with generating sales potential by having a general understanding of every department, driving a customer service culture, developing staff, maintaining store appearance, controlling expenses and shortages. An effective Supervisor will do this through leading by example. It is a Supervisor’s responsibility to ensure that they create a positive and productive work environment

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Sales & Operations
  • Conducts huddles as scheduled by management team.
  • Sets a positive tone for the team.
  • Commonly work side by side with team members to accomplish store goals
  • Is totally familiar and competent in conducting and adhering to all processes for management and best practices.
  • Displays awareness of the sales floor to ensure safety to the customers.
  • Effectively supervise all sales associates at all times to ensure safety and productivity.
  • Remain current on all company policies and ensure that all policies, standards and procedures are maintained and followed in a consistent manner.
  • Participates in the MOD responsibilities and schedule.
  • Attend management meetings as required by Store Manager
  • Maintains a positive, fun and productive work environment.
  • Communicates customer and/or employee issues to Assistant Managers or Store Manager in a timely fashion.
  • Handles bank deposits
  • Schedule and help assist in deliveries when needed
  • Can open and close the store based on operational guidelines.
  • Count down cash drawers at the end of the day and petty cash if necessary.
  • Is back up to store team when Store Manager and Assistant Manager are unavailable
  • Cashiering as needed.
  • Any other job duties as assigned.
Customer Service
  • Promote Customer Service as the #1 Priority.
  • Regularly promote and teach the concept of “Every Customer Every Time” on the sales floor. Participates in huddles and store meetings as the venue to communicate concept.
  • Respond immediately to all customer complaints and resolve them with a sense of urgency.
  • Participate in all store meetings.
  • Understands Dexter and communicates to team, when directed, through Dexter.
Inventory Control
  • Address any inventory issues brought to them by team members
  • Checking and receiving inventory under the discretion of store manager
  • Assisting Store Manager and Assistant Manager with any other inventory corrections such as credit PO’s and RGA’s
Personal Development
  • Attend trainings and meetings as directed by store manager.
  • Utilize IDP process to identify development goals and training.
Coaching and Training
  • Assist in the training and development of the floor staff as directed by store manager.
  • Works with other management to recognize good performance and assists in the development of recognition programs
Safety Compliance and Housekeeping
  • Maintain high level of housekeeping throughout the store, both inside and out.
  • Enforce safety policies and procedures; is a safety role model.
Additional Requirements
  • High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Previous supervisory experience and retail knowledge preferred.
  • Technically skilled in basic computer knowledge and software (such as, Word, Excel, Email, internet research).
  • Must have good written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to provide motivation and leadership to employees store wide
Required Knowledge Skills and Abilities
  • Place proper priorities on work to be done.
  • Have good concept of overall management responsibilities.
  • Keep well informed on facts important to management.
  • Fair and impartial in dealing with employees.
  • Communicate well with others, and work well as part of a retail team.
  • Provide and accept constructive suggestions and instructions.
  • Technically skilled in basic computer knowledge and software (such as, Word, Excel, Email, Google Docs, Internet research).
  • Always polite and attentive to customers and staff.
  • Dress appropriately and according to company policy
Physical Demands
  • Tasks involve the ability to exert moderate, though not constant physical effort, typically involving some combination of climbing and balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching and crawling.
  • Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods of time.
  • Requires the ability to reach, bend, balance, lift and transport various objects weighing up to 60lbs. repeatedly throughout the shift; at times, product weight may reach over 60lbs. This requires the ability to move heavy product with assistance.
