Job summary

American Water in Colts Neck, NJ seeks a Production Operations Supervisor to supervise front-line personnel and implement production processes in water operations. This role ensures safe, compliant operations and reliable treated water delivery to customers.

You will schedule training, coordinate CAPEX projects, manage preventive maintenance, and ensure regulatory standards are met. The position requires union experience preferred, a related degree, and a valid driver's license, with on-site

Qualifications

  • Experience in regulated water business and applicable regulations.
  • Knowledge of company policies, procedures, practices and trends.
  • Understanding of process and operational areas relevant to water production.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise a team of front-line staff engaged in production operations.
  • Schedule training to ensure operator certifications from regulating agencies.
  • Participate in the resolution of union and/or non-union labor issues.
  • Coordinate construction of new/upgraded production facilities per CAPEX budget.
  • Implement a preventative maintenance program to save OPEX and defer CAPEX.
  • Oversee daily security efforts at all production facilities.
  • Ensure adequate treated water meeting regulatory standards is provided.
  • Supervise processes to align with American Water policies and reporting.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory programs including TCPA, DPCC, etc.
  • Manage treatment chemical storage and deliveries.

Primary Role

This role will be responsible for supervising front-line personnel and implementing operational processes that are engaged in the functional area of production for water operations.

Key Accountabilities
  • Supervise a team of front-line staff engaged in production operations.
  • Schedule training and development activities to ensure that personnel obtain and maintain appropriate operator certifications from regulating agencies.
  • Participate in the resolution of union and/or non-union labor issues.
  • Coordinates the construction of new and/or upgraded production facilities in accordance with approved CAPEX budget.
  • Implement a preventative maintenance program for capital assets that provides OPEX savings and defers CAPEX spending, where possible.
  • Day-to-day implementation of security efforts at all production facilities.
  • Supervise daily activities to ensure that adequate quantities of treated water meeting all regulatory standards are provided to customers at all times.
  • Supervise operational and business processes to ensure that American Water policies are followed, best practices are implemented, and internal/external reporting requirements are satisfied.
  • Responsible for compliance with regularity programs including TCPA, DPCC, etc.
  • Treatment Chemical management, including monitoring chemical storage and ordering deliveries.
Knowledge/Skills
  • Previous knowledge of the regulated water business and the regulations impacting the business.
  • Previous knowledge of company policies and procedures, practices, and trends.
  • Previous knowledge of process and operational areas.
Experience/Education
  • Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, biology, or related field preferred.
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Strong computer skills, especially Microsoft Office. Microsoft Excel skills preferred.
  • 3-5 years of relevant experience in field.
  • Valid driver's license is required.
  • Previous experience managing a Union workforce is preferred.
Travel Requirements
  • Role will be M-F 730pm to 4pm.
  • Must be able to report to 310 Swimming River Rd Colts Neck NJ 07722
  • Must be able to travel for meetings.
  • Office environment with occasional outdoor work and visits to treatment plants or system facilities.
  • On-call responsibility.
  • Must be for available for weekends and holidays.
