Job summary

Messer Construction Co. in Raleigh, NC seeks a seasoned Commercial Construction Superintendent to lead field operations, drive lean scheduling, ensure safety, and deliver high-quality projects through strong team leadership.

You will coordinate with clients, designers, subcontractors and vendors, manage budgets and schedules, and mentor staff while upholding Messer’s safety standards and project excellence.

Qualifications

• 5+ years as a commercial construction Superintendent or equivalent.
• Bachelor's degree preferred in Civil Engineering/Construction Mgmt.
• Strong leadership, organization and communication skills.
• Experience with built-in quality, LEAN planning and scheduling, safety programs.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and coordinate field operations to drive on-time project delivery.
• Support relationships with client, designer, subcontractor and vendors.
• Implement and drive the Zero-Injury Safety program on site.
• Read drawings and specs; manage owner/subcontract terms and conditions.
• Maintain worksite logistics and develop site plans.
• Drive the project schedule and day-to-day construction activities.
• Facilitate Site-Wide Huddles and Plan of the Day meetings.
• Monitor and control project costs and resources.
• Utilize CM/PM systems to track progress and reporting.
• Mentor Messer staff and participate in interview/hiring as needed.

We are currently looking for a Superintendent with Commercial Construction experience to join our team in Raleigh, NC. The primary responsibility of this position is to supervise and coordinate field operations, driving projects to successful completion through a safe work environment, quality construction, effective LEAN planning & scheduling, cost management, collaboration with project stakeholders, and superior client service.

What You Will Do

• Support client, designer, subcontractor & vendor relationships
• Implement & drive our Zero-Injury Safety program.
• Understand drawings, specifications, and terms/conditions of owner contracts and subcontracts.
• Deliver built-in quality using our three-phase quality control process.
• Develop and maintain worksite logistics
• Drive project schedule including day to day supervision and coordination of construction activities.
• Facilitate daily Site-Wide Huddles and Plan of the Day Meetings
• Proactively monitor & control project costs
• Leverage construction management and project management systems
• Support the professional development and mentoring of Messer staff.
• Support the interviewing and hiring process, as needed.
• Perform other duties and responsibilities, as needed.

What You Will Bring

• 5+ years of experience operating as a commercial construction Superintendent, or in a directly comparable role.
• Bachelor's degree preferred; Civil Engineering, Construction Management or related field.
• Demonstrable excellence in leadership, organization, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Working knowledge of contemporary construction technologies and systems (ex. AutoDesk Build, Procore, Phoenix, etc.)
• Proven experience utilizing contemporary construction process and project management systems (ex. Lean Construction, Flow scheduling, 3-Phase Control, etc.)
• Proven experience maintaining compliance with construction safety policies and standards.
