Job summary

Grunley Construction is seeking a Superintendent to lead on-site construction activities for high-profile projects. Based in the DMV area, the role requires directing materials, crews, and subcontractors and ensuring schedule adherence and safety.

You will report to the Director of Field Operations and be responsible for site logistics, quality control, field office operations, and maintaining team morale to deliver projects on time and within budget.

Qualifications

• HS Diploma or GED required.
• Minimum 10 years in construction with 5+ years as Superintendent on large projects.
• Familiarity with EM-385-1-1 and safety compliance.

The Superintendent is responsible for the construction site and all activities occurring therein. The Superintendent oversees and directs the material, tools, equipment, and labor used to complete the construction activities. The Superintendent is responsible for job site logistics, scheduling, quality control (Level II, or III as appropriate), safety, field office operations and overall morale.

Reports to: Director of Field Operations and is assigned project responsibility under the Senior Project Manager/Project Executive.

• Required Education

  • HS Diploma or G.E.D.

• Required Experience

  • This position requires strong leadership skills with a minimum of ten (10) years of construction experience and with at least five (5) of those years as a Superintendent on projects similar in size and complexity of $120M. The individual must be familiar with the requirements of EM-385-1-1 and have experience in the areas of hazard identification and safety compliance.

  • CPR Certified
  • First Aid Certified (current or be able to obtain before project start date)

• Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Must have general knowledge of all trades on the project and must be able to forecast and execute the required activities within the project schedule. The Superintendent oversees both Grunley employees and subcontractors' operations.
  • The Superintendent must have excellent communication skills and be able to interact with co-workers, owners, owners' representatives and tenants.
  • The Superintendent must be capable of learning new technical and non-technical information and applying it in the field in relatively short time periods.
