The City of Glendale is seeking an Intelligent Transportation Systems Superintendent to manage its ITS Division. Key responsibilities include overseeing traffic signal systems, coordinating citywide traffic operations, and ensuring the effective management of the Traffic Management Center. About Us: The City of Glendale's Transportation Department works to ensure the safe and efficient circulation of vehicular, bicycle, and pedestrian traffic, minimizes pollutant air emissions, and promotes economic development throughout the City.
The Role: The Intelligent Transportation Systems Superintendent manages the ITS Division. Responsibilities include developing, updating, and monitoring traffic signal timing plans, implementing citywide coordination plans using centralized traffic signal system software and ITS infrastructure, coordinating dissemination of travel information via dynamic message signs (DMS) and other media, and managing the daily operations of the Traffic Management Center (TMC). The role also involves overseeing TMC operations during sporting and non-sporting events in the city’s Sports and Entertainment District.
The ideal candidate will have an Associate Degree in Electronics, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, with five years of relevant experience in traffic signal systems such as ITS and/or traffic signal timing, including two years of lead or supervisory experience.

Salary: Grade 412, $84,571.00 - $126,857.00 annually

Qualifications include an associate degree in relevant fields, five years of related experience, and leadership experience. Knowledge areas include signal timing, software tools, traffic engineering, ITS proficiency, design principles, federal/state codes, budgeting, project management, and safety practices. Ability to plan repairs, analyze data, communicate effectively, establish relationships, lead staff, interpret regulations, conduct fieldwork, and operate city vehicles is required.
