Job summary

Hedrick Brothers Construction in Florida seeks a Superintendent II to independently run moderately complex commercial projects from mobilization through closeout, guiding safety, quality, and schedule while coordinating with owners, designers, and trades. You will lead a team of field personnel, manage subcontractors, handle QA/QC via Procore, maintain daily reports, and ensure inspections pass.

The role requires OSHA 30, robust leadership, and hands-on site oversight in a fast-paced environment

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent and 6–10 years of commercial construction experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Strong knowledge of construction across the CSI MasterFormat divisions.
• Demonstrated ability to run a project independently and understand building department codes and regulations.
• OSHA 30-Hour certification required.
• First Aid / CPR certification preferred.
• AGC Supervisory Training Program (STP) completed or willingness to complete.
• Certification for any tools used by workers under direct supervision.
• Valid Florida driver's license and reliable transportation.

Responsibilities

• Lead total construction effort to deliver the project in accordance with design, budget, and schedule, and supervise field personnel including manpower scheduling and performance evaluation.
• Build and lead a cohesive trade partner team, resolving complaints and grievances within the workforce.
• Own startup and closeout, including the start-up checklist, site-specific safety plan, and obtaining all vendor and trade partner documentation.
• Perform estimating and pricing of small jobs and change orders.
• Develop and maintain the project schedule with the PM; produce monthly updates and weekly three-week look-aheads.
• Lead weekly trade partner coordination meetings; schedule and conduct on-site project review meetings.
• Coordinate with Virtual Design & Construction team on constructability, clash detection, and routing.
• Procure and confirm timely delivery of tools and materials.
• QA/QC via Procore inspection checklists; pass inspections.
• Schedule and walk all AHJ, third-party, threshold, and owner inspections; communicate with inspectors to pass first time called.
• Manage submittals, RFIs, permit log, and as-builts; complete daily reports and photos in Procore.
• Cost-code materials, labor, and equipment per budget and submit field paperwork to the PM weekly.
• Maintain positive communication with office, owner, architect, and inspectors, and perform warranty-period follow-up with clients.
• Champion HBC's safety culture and ensure full compliance with OSHA requirements, company policy, and the site-specific safety plan.
• Lead and document weekly toolbox safety meetings and conduct the weekly jobsite safety inspection across the entire site.
• Maintain SDS files, safety signage, emergency contacts, fire extinguishers, first-aid kits, and PPE stock at all times.
• Partner with the Safety Department to build and maintain the site-specific safety program and correct deficiencies immediately.
• Complete and submit all incident and accident reports and investigations; maintain contact with any injured employee and coordinate with HR.

The Opportunity

As a Superintendent II, you independently run a moderately complex commercial project from mobilization through closeout, owning the field in full. You may direct an Assistant Superintendent and are trusted to manage multiple trades, demanding schedules, and direct owner and design-team interaction.

You set the tone on site — driving safety, quality, schedule, and the relationships that decide whether a client builds with HBC again.

What You'll Do

Project Leadership

• Coordinate with HBC's Virtual Design & Construction team on constructability, clash detection, and routing.

Quality, Inspections & Documentation

• Own QA/QC via Procore inspection checklists; hold pre-installation meetings with each trade on submittal, manufacturer, and code requirements.
• Schedule and walk all AHJ, third-party, threshold, and owner inspections; communicate tactfully with inspectors to pass first time called.
• Manage submittals, RFIs, permit log, and as-builts; complete daily reports and photos in Procore.
• Cost-code materials, labor, and equipment per budget and submit all field paperwork to the PM weekly by end of day Monday.
• Maintain positive communication with office, owner, architect, and inspectors, and perform warranty-period follow-up with clients.
