Job description

ABOUT HEDRICK BROTHERS CONSTRUCTION

Founded in 1979, Hedrick Brothers Construction is a family-owned commercial general contractor headquartered in West Palm Beach, Florida, with offices in Winter Park, Stuart, and Miami. For more than 47 years, we have built across Florida in hospitality, multi-family, industrial, healthcare, and the public sector, with project values ranging from $5M to $160M.

Our work is guided by our GRIT values — Growth, Resourcefulness, Integrity, and Team, and a culture built on doing right by our people, our trade partners, and our clients.

The Opportunity

Superintendents are HBC's front-line field leaders — responsible for the safe, on-time, on-budget delivery of work on site. You independently run a smaller or less complex project, or a defined portion of a larger one, under the guidance of the General Superintendent.

You build a cohesive team from our trade partner base, drive the schedule, own quality and safety in the field, and keep the project moving day by day.

What You'll Do
Project Startup & Planning
  • Complete the project start-up checklist and, with the Safety Department, prepare the on-site safety orientation and site-specific safety plan; ensure every worker signs off before working.
  • Review all trade partner scopes of work and confirm understanding and buy-in with each foreman before mobilization.
  • Study specifications to plan procedures, sequencing, and staffing for each phase of construction.
Scheduling & Field Management
  • Manage the schedule with the PM, including monthly updates and weekly two-to-four-week look-aheads in the standard format or Microsoft Project.
  • Lead the weekly trade partner coordination meeting covering schedule, logistics, procurement, and permitting; distribute minutes through Procore.
  • Build a team from the trade partner base that creates buy-in from every foreman and worker on site.
  • Procure and confirm timely delivery of tools and materials to conform to the schedule.
Documentation, Quality & Inspections
  • Complete the Procore Daily Report every day workers are on site, with daily progress photos.
  • Own quality control using Procore inspection checklists by discipline; hold pre-installation meetings with each trade to confirm submittal, manufacturer, and code requirements are met.
  • Schedule and walk all AHJ, third-party, threshold, and owner inspections; have documentation ready, document results, and confirm them in the AHJ system.
  • Review submittals prior to installation; prepare RFI backup (question, drawing reference, recommended solution) for the PM.
  • Maintain the permit log with the PM, keep as-built drawings current, and review the closeout checklist with the PM.
  • Perform proper cost coding and turn in receipts, tickets, reports, and timesheets to the PM weekly by end of day Monday.
Safety & Loss Prevention
  • Champion HBC's safety culture and ensure full compliance with OSHA requirements, company policy, and the site-specific safety plan.
  • Lead and document weekly toolbox safety meetings and conduct the weekly jobsite safety inspection across the entire site.
  • Maintain SDS files, safety signage, emergency contacts, fire extinguishers, first-aid kits, and PPE stock at all times.
  • Partner with the Safety Department to build and maintain the site-specific safety program and correct deficiencies immediately.
  • Complete and submit all incident and accident reports and investigations; maintain contact with any injured employee and coordinate with HR.
What You Bring to the Role
Experience & Education
  • High school diploma or equivalent and 3–5 years of commercial construction experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • First Aid / CPR certification preferred.
