Job summary

Sterling Construction Company, Inc. in Beaver, UT is seeking an experienced Superintendent to lead roadway projects. You will interpret plans, enforce safety, manage schedules, inspections, and coordinate crews and subcontractors to meet deadlines.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of roadway superintendent or foreperson experience leading heavy equipment crews (grader, trackhoe, backhoe, loader, crane, etc.).
  • 10 years of experience and understanding of all phases of roadway/highway construction.
  • 10 years of roadway earthwork and road widening projects.
  • 10 years of DOT roadway projects.
  • Education: four or more years related experience and/or training; or a bachelor degree from a four-year college or university; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Responsibilities

  • Read, understand, interpret, and enforce safety policies and practices.
  • Read and understand plans, specifications and local building codes.
  • Schedule and document all required inspections, quality testing, or other compliance requirements.
  • Complete daily reports (units complete, safety reports, EEO meetings, weekly unit cost worksheets).
  • Read and understand global project schedules and generate two-week construction schedules weekly.
  • Schedule and order materials, inspections and manpower to meet schedules.
  • Inspect work in progress for workmanship and schedule adherence.
  • Coordinate planning with personnel and subcontractors to prevent delays.
  • Maintain knowledge of equipment used on the job and its limits.
  • Track rental usage and completion on the job.
  • Conduct regular performance reviews with employees under direction.

Position_Description :

Superintendent responsibilities and abilities include but are not limited to the list below. Other duties may be assigned.

  1. Read, understand, interpret, and enforce safety policies and practices.
  2. Read and understand plans, specifications and local building codes.
  3. Schedules and documents all required inspections, quality testing, or other compliance requirements.
  4. Completes daily reports such as units complete, safety reports, EEO meetings and weekly unit cost worksheets.
  5. Read and understand global project schedules and generate two-week construction schedules weekly.
  6. Schedule and order materials, inspections and manpower in order to meet project schedules and specifications.
  7. Inspects work in progress to ensure that workmanship conforms to specifications and the adherence to construction schedules.
  8. Confers with and directs personnel and subcontractors engaged in planning and executing work, interpreting specifications, and coordinating various phases of construction to prevent delays.
  9. Maintain a general knowledge of equipment used on the job including basic understanding of equipment limits and designed purposes.
  10. Track delivery, use and completion of rentals on the job.
  11. Complete regular performance reviews for employees under his/her direction in a complete and timely manner. Ensures the employee understands the review, signs the review form and is provided a copy for his/her records.
