Job summary

Modigent is seeking a Superintendent - Fabrication to lead shop and field fabrication for sheet metal, piping, and mechanical components on commercial projects nationwide. You will oversee fabrication teams, ensure quality, safety, and timely production, and collaborate with project teams to meet install schedules.

This hands-on leadership role requires 7+ years in mechanical fabrication and 3+ years supervising, with high school/GED and trade certifications preferred.

• 3+ years supervisory experience.

Responsibilities

• Supervise fabrication of ductwork, piping, supports, and components per specs.
• Manage shop workflow, inventory, equipment maintenance, and crew assignments.
• Enforce safety standards and lean fabrication practices.
• Coordinate with project superintendents and field teams for just-in-time delivery.
• Troubleshoot production issues and ensure code/standard compliance.
• Train and mentor fabricators on techniques and safety.
• Track productivity, reduce waste, and pursue continuous improvements.

Job description

As Superintendent - Fabrication, you'll oversee shop and field fabrication operations for sheet metal, piping, and mechanical components, ensuring accurate, timely production for commercial projects. Lead fabrication teams to maintain quality, safety, and efficiency in support of installations nationwide. Duties and Responsibilities

• Supervise fabrication of ductwork, piping, supports, and custom components per blueprints/specs.
• Manage shop workflow, material inventory, equipment maintenance, and crew assignments.
• Enforce safety standards, quality checks, and lean fabrication practices.
• Coordinate with project superintendents and field teams for just-in-time delivery.
• Troubleshoot production issues and ensure compliance with codes/standards.
• Train and mentor fabricators on techniques and safety.
• Track productivity, waste reduction, and continuous improvement.

Supervisory Responsibilities

• Yes – Lead fabrication shop teams and welders/fitters; manage performance, training, safety.

Requirements/Qualifications

• Experience: 7+ years in mechanical fabrication (sheet metal/piping), 3+ years supervisory.
• Education: High school/GED; trade certifications preferred.
• Physical Demands: Shop/field; heavy lifting, standing, tool use.
• Work Environment/Safety: Fabrication shop/construction sites; PPE/safety critical.
