Matrix Service Company is seeking a Superintendent to supervise craft employees in the Electrical construction discipline. You will plan, coordinate, and oversee activities, ensuring safety and schedule adherence on site.

The ideal candidate brings 6+ years in similar facilities, plus leadership and strong communication skills. This role requires field presence, safety audits, and coordination with multiple departments to support the project timeline.

Qualifications

• 6+ years’ experience in similar facility construction, including technology, methods, equipment and procedures.
• 1+ years’ experience supervising craft employees.
• Advanced understanding of construction scheduling and cost control.
• Ability to supervise large groups.
• Proven ability to apply innovative management techniques to maximize performance.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills; good computer skills (Word/Excel).

• Supervise craft employees assigned to the Electrical construction discipline work area.
• Plan and supervise work activities; determine construction methods, safety procedures, manpower, materials, equipment, and schedule.
• Coordinate work with crafts, company departments and other contractors.
• Ensure safety policies and project schedules are followed; liaise with safety, engineering, estimating and planning.
• Conduct field safety audits and document corrective actions.
• Collaborate with HR to resolve manpower requisitioning and staffing needs.
• Monitor compliance with project safety program and quality control requirements.

Job Summary

The Superintendent is responsible for supervising craft employees assigned to the Electrical construction discipline work area.

Essential Functions

• Actively supports the Company’s commitment to safety and its “Core Values.”
• Represents the Company at all times with high moral standards while adhering to the Company’s “Code of Business Conduct and Ethics.”
• Plans and supervises work activities. Determines method of construction, safety procedures and requirements, manpower levels, material quantities, equipment, temporary power sources, work schedule and documents actual hours worked.
• Coordinates assigned work with different crafts, company departments and/or other contractors.
• Maintains liaison with safety department, engineering, estimating and planning to ensure work complies with safety policies, drawings, specifications and schedules.
• Assists in resolving construction problems and safety issues, as required.
• Conducts accident investigations with safety department, as required.
• Maintains communication with the HR Department to resolve issues of requisitioning required manpower.
• Monitors craft compliance with project safety program requirements. Documents and ensures corrective measures are implemented.
• Maintains liaison with other departments (Material Control, Purchasing, Quality Control, and Engineering) to ensure all required materials, equipment, inspections, etc., support craft activities and project schedule.
• Conducts field safety audits, as required and maintains a complete understanding of Corporate Safety Manual and requirements.
• Performs additional responsibilities, as directed.

Qualifications

• 6+ years’ experience in similar facility, including construction technology, methods, equipment, tools, and work procedures; 1+ years’ experience supervising craft employees.
• 4-year engineering degree or equivalent combination of technical training and experience.
• Advanced understanding of construction scheduling cost control.
• Ability to supervise large groups.
• Demonstrated ability to apply innovative and effective management techniques to maximize performance.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills; good computer skills including MS Word and Excel.

Work includes field inspections and audits and the physical ability to conduct these field duties which require the following activities:

• Must have the ability to walk into and out of the project via turnstile access.
• Extensive walking in and around a construction site.
• Tasks at heights including climbing ladders, climbing scaffolding, working on elevated platforms, and working on uneven surfaces.
• Working in small or confined spaces.
• Ability to push, pull, lift, or carry objects weighing up to 40 pounds.
• Must be able to use appropriate standard issued Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) required for each assigned task (i.e. fall protection harness, hard hat, etc.).
• Ability to be fit tested for and use a respirator.
• Must be able to perform work tasks in hot and cold temperatures
