Job summary

GMEA LLC in Houston seeks an Electrical Superintendent to supervise on-site electrical construction, ensure safety, schedule, and budget adherence while meeting project specs and codes. Qualifications

  • 7+ years of experience in commercial/industrial electrical construction, including 3+ years in a supervisory role.
  • Strong working knowledge of NEC and local electrical codes.
  • Journeyman or Master Electrician license (or equivalent).
  • Ability to read electrical drawings and specifications.
  • Experience managing crews, subcontractors, and multiple tasks.
  • Experience with commercial/industrial projects and scheduling.
  • OSHA 30 certification (or willingness to obtain).
  • Valid driver’s license.

Job Summary

The Electrical Superintendent is responsible for overseeing all on-site electrical construction activities, ensuring work is completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and in compliance with project specifications, codes, and quality standards. This role supervises electrical crews and subcontractors, coordinates with project management and other trades, and serves as the primary field authority on electrical installation, systems, and troubleshooting.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan, schedule, and supervise daily electrical construction activities across one or more job sites
  • Direct and coordinate electricians, foremen, and subcontractors to ensure work meets project timelines and quality standards
  • Interpret electrical blueprints, schematics, and specifications to guide installation and troubleshooting
  • Ensure all work complies with the National Electrical Code (NEC), local codes, and OSHA safety regulations
  • Conduct regular site inspections to monitor progress, quality, and adherence to safety protocols
  • Coordinate with general contractors, project managers, and other trade superintendents to resolve scheduling conflicts and sequencing issues
  • Manage material and equipment procurement, ensuring adequate supply for ongoing work
  • Track labor hours, productivity, and job costs; report progress and issues to project management
  • Lead toolbox talks, safety meetings, and enforce jobsite safety culture
  • Identify and resolve field conflicts, design issues, or constructability problems
  • Review and approve subcontractor work, punch lists, and closeout documentation
  • Mentor and train field staff, foremen, and apprentices
  • Liaise with inspectors and ensure successful code compliance inspections
  • Maintain accurate daily reports, timesheets, and project documentation
Qualifications

Required

  • 7+ years of experience in commercial/industrial electrical construction, including 3+ years in a supervisory or superintendent role
  • Strong working knowledge of the NEC and applicable local electrical codes
  • Journeyman or Master Electrician license (or equivalent per state/local requirements)
  • Proven ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, one-line diagrams, and specifications
  • Experience managing crews, subcontractors, and multiple concurrent tasks
  • Experience with commercial and/or industrial projects
  • Strong understanding of construction scheduling and project management principles
  • OSHA 30 certification (or willingness to obtain)
  • Valid driver’s license
Preferred:
  • Familiarity with construction management software (e.g., Procore, Bluebeam, MS Project)
  • Bachelor’s degree or technical certification in electrical engineering, construction management, or related field
