Job summary

Gibraltar Fabrication, LLC. is seeking an experienced Construction Superintendent to lead heavy civil projects from pre-construction through completion. You will oversee field operations, enforce safety, maintain schedules, and deliver quality work in line with contract requirements.

The role requires hands-on onsite leadership, extensive design-build experience, and the ability to coordinate subcontractors, suppliers, and crews while maintaining thorough project documentation.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 10 years of experience serving as a Construction Superintendent.
• Must have completed at least two heavy civil design-build projects within the last 15 years, each valued at $10 million or greater.
• Must have completed USACE EM 385-1-1 24-Hour Construction Safety Training within the last five years.
• Resume must clearly demonstrate experience interpreting and managing critical path schedules and reading construction plans.
• Must be capable of overseeing all onsite construction activities and maintaining schedule compliance.

Job description

Gibraltar is seeking an experienced Superintendent to oversee and manage heavy civil construction projects from pre-construction through completion. The Superintendent will be responsible for coordinating field operations, ensuring project safety, maintaining schedule adherence, and delivering quality work in accordance with contract requirements.

This position requires a highly qualified construction professional with extensive heavy civil and design-build experience. The Superintendent must remain onsite whenever construction activities are taking place and may not perform any other project duties while serving in this role.

• Provide overall field leadership and supervision for heavy civil construction projects.
• Coordinate subcontractors, suppliers, equipment, and labor resources.
• Ensure all work is performed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with project specifications and contract requirements.
• Interpret and execute construction plans, specifications, and contract documents.
• Monitor and manage project schedules, including critical path activities.
• Conduct daily site inspections and maintain quality control standards.
• Lead safety meetings and enforce project safety requirements.
• Coordinate with Project Managers, Owners, Engineers, Inspectors, and subcontractors.
• Maintain project documentation, daily reports, and field records.
• Identify and resolve field issues to minimize impacts to schedule and budget.

Required Qualifications

Applicants must meet all of the following minimum qualifications:

• Minimum of 10 years of experience serving as a Construction Superintendent.
• Must have successfully completed at least two (2) heavy civil design-build projects within the last 15 years, with each project having a construction value of $10 million or greater.
• Must have completed the USACE EM 385-1-1 24-Hour Construction Safety Training within the last five (5) years.
  • Proof of completion must be submitted with the resume.
• Resume must clearly demonstrate experience:
  • Interpreting and managing critical path schedules.
  • Reading and interpreting construction plans and specifications.
• Must be capable of overseeing all onsite construction activities and maintaining project schedule compliance.
• Must be onsite whenever construction activities are taking place.
• May not perform any other project duties while serving as Superintendent.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working on federal, military, border infrastructure, or large-scale civil construction projects.
• Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Proficiency with construction scheduling software and project management tools.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Ability to walk active construction sites and traverse uneven terrain.
• Ability to lift and carry materials and equipment as needed.
