Job summary

ewi Recruitment is seeking an experienced Superintendent, Construction to oversee the safe, high-quality delivery of construction projects from mobilisation through to completion. The role requires strong site leadership, coordination of activities, and ensuring work aligns with approved plans, schedules, budgets and applicable legislation.

You will lead pre-start meetings, toolbox talks, site inspections, maintain records and ensure changes and project documentation are properly controlled.

Job description

We are seeking an experienced Superintendent, Construction to oversee the safe, efficient and high-quality delivery of construction projects from mobilisation through to completion. The successful candidate will provide strong site leadership, coordinate all construction activities and ensure work is completed in accordance with approved plans, specifications, schedules, budgets and applicable legislation. This role will involve regular collaboration with project managers, engineers, subcontractors, suppliers, consultants and client representatives.

Key responsibilities include planning and supervising daily site operations; coordinating labour, plant, materials and subcontractor activities; monitoring progress against programme milestones; and identifying and resolving construction issues promptly. You will lead pre-start meetings, toolbox talks and site inspections, maintain accurate records and reports, and ensure all changes, variations and project documentation are properly controlled. You will also be responsible for promoting a proactive safety culture, enforcing site procedures, supporting quality assurance activities and ensuring environmental and regulatory requirements are consistently met. The role may include reviewing construction methodologies, managing interfaces between trades and assisting with commissioning, handover and close-out activities.

Applicants should have substantial experience supervising construction projects, ideally within a complex commercial, civil, industrial or infrastructure environment. A relevant trade qualification, diploma or degree in construction management, engineering or a related discipline is desirable, along with recognised site leadership or safety credentials. You will need a strong understanding of construction methods, sequencing, quality systems, health and safety requirements, and project controls. Excellent communication, organisation and problem-solving skills are essential, as is the ability to build effective relationships and lead teams in a demanding environment. The successful candidate will be practical, accountable and committed to delivering safe, high-quality outcomes while maintaining schedule and budget performance.
