Job Description

MNL, a leader in ecological restoration, has an opening for a Superintendent to work on a large-scale project for our Construction Department based out of the Fargo-Moorhead office. The Superintendent is responsible for overseeing and leading a team of equipment operators working on this ecological restoration project in Fargo, ND. Strong communication and organizational skills are required to ensure a safe and timely project completion. This project and many others pay above the base rate as prevailing wage projects.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Oversee and conduct various tasks involved in the successful installation of restoration projects, including site preparation, seeding, planting, erosion control, and more.
  2. Utilize a variety of restoration equipment such as agricultural tractors with implements, dozers, excavators, off-road trucks, forestry equipment, skid loaders, 3-point implements, hand tools, ATV/UTVs, mowers, weed whips, chainsaws, and powered augers.
  3. Lead a team of foremen, operators, field staff, and subcontractors on projects primarily near Fargo-Moorhead.
  4. Maintain work records and safety logs, ensuring compliance with all state and federal regulations.
  5. Communicate daily tasks and expectations to the field staff, providing leadership and guidance.
  6. Update project managers, customers, and leadership on project progress.
  7. Enforce company policies, procedures, and safety standards.
  8. Perform additional duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • At least 2 years of experience in landscaping, agriculture, or construction.
  • At least 2 years of leadership experience.
  • Knowledge of heavy equipment and civil work.
  • Experience in ecological restoration or related construction work.
  • Experience in the safe operation and maintenance of tools and equipment.
  • Ability to read maps and project plans, and follow directions accurately.
  • Willingness to obtain a Class A CDL with air brake and tanker endorsements within 3 months, with company assistance.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Basic computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office 365.
  • Ability to pass a criminal background check.

  • Physical Requirements:

    • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
    • Capability to bend, stretch, push, pull, reach, and move as needed for installation duties.
    • Prolonged standing periods.
    • Willingness to work long hours, including early mornings, late evenings, and some overnight or weekend shifts; hours may be reduced in winter.
    • Ability to work in various weather conditions, including extreme heat and cold.
    • Overnight travel, if required, includes per diem for lodging and food.
