Job summary

Kent Companies is seeking a Superintendent to lead construction sites from mobilization through project completion in the San Antonio area. You will oversee safety, planning, budgeting, communications with clients, and field teams to ensure timely, on-budget delivery.

The role requires extensive experience in commercial concrete and Tilt Wall construction, strong leadership, and the ability to manage multiple crews and schedules on local job sites.

Qualifications

• 10 years of experience in commercial concrete construction.
• 5 years of Tilt Wall construction experience.
• Experience managing personnel, tracking materials, and labor.
• Must have reliable transportation to job locations.
• Ability to pass drug screening.
• Must be able to work in the United States without corporate sponsorship now and in the future.

Responsibilities

• Safety - lead on-site, provide safety coaching, daily reporting and toolbox talks.

• Budgets - manage job progress within budget.
• Communication / Customer Service - maintain clear expectations with team and clients.

• Quality Control - ensure work meets contract standards and drawings.
• Schedule - build and maintain schedule with updates and look-aheads.
• Cost to Complete – attend monthly financial accountability meetings to reflect spending.

Superintendents are responsible for managing & overseeing the construction job site from day 1 of mobilization until our project scope is completed.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Safety - As the job site leader, the Superintendent is responsible for identifying unsafe working environments, working proactively to correct those conditions, and acting as the Safety Coach for the Team. Daily reporting, JHAs, and toolbox talks are non-negotiable.
• Initial Planning – Study construction drawings before the start date, all updates as the work progresses, and alert Project Management to errors before they become a problem.
• Budgets - Demonstrate knowledge of a job sequence and how to push a job forward safely and productively while staying within budget.
• Communication / Customer Service - Great communication is essential to our success and our clients' well-being. Communicating clear expectations with your Team and our clients during on-site supervision is required.
• Management - Proactively manages the job site by maintaining a detailed record of all labor, materials, and equipment and managing the deliveries and schedules to avoid delays. Supervises subcontractors, foremen, and craftsmen to ensure projects are properly executed. Responsible for managing field crews in leadership and utilizing the time clock tool ExakTime.
• Quality Control - Understand the quality expectation of Kent Companies’ means and methods to ensure the quality of the final product meets or exceeds the requirements spelled out in our scope of work. Properly lay out all work based on drawings and given survey points.
• Schedule - Work with the General Superintendent and the Project Manager to build and maintain a schedule, including updates, changes, and look-a-heads. This includes timely internal and external communication regarding all problems and changes.
• Cost to Complete – The superintendent is responsible for monthly financial accountability meetings, which clarify schedules to accurately reflect our spending now and in the future for remaining work on site.

Required Experience, Education, and Qualifications

Work Environment/Physical Demand

This position works outside at job locations, traveling to the field to work and supervise projects daily. This position will demand long periods of walking, standing, and working in all sorts of weather (hot, cold, and rainy days).

Position type, travel, and expected hours of work

This full-time field position requires travel to local job locations in and around San Antonio. Typical hours will range from 45-50 hours per week and are subject to change. This role requires working nontypical days and irregular hours based on construction schedules. Due to the critical nature of the role, accepting phone calls even during nontypical workdays and hours is also necessary.
