Freeport-McMoRan Inc. in Phoenix is seeking an experienced commissioning engineer to plan and manage commissioning activities for facilities, ensuring performance aligns with objectives and risks are minimized.

Under limited supervision, you will lead Supervisors, coordinate with contractors, and deliver capital projects on schedule and within budget. A strong background in mechanical equipment and CMMS is preferred, with travel up to 80%.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field, or equivalent training/experience.
• Minimum 6 years of commissioning/maintenance experience in the field.
• Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, mechanical drawings, equipment specs and vendor manuals.

Responsibilities

• Plans, organizes and manages commissioning activities to meet objectives and risks.
• Directs Supervisors and staff in the Commissioning process to ensure quality of work.
• Delivers moderately complex capital projects on time, within budget and to spec.

Under limited supervision, plans, organizes, and manages commissioning activities to evaluate the performance of facilities, systems, and assemblies for ensuring they meet defined objectives and criteria. Responsible for the all inclusive quality-oriented process for the planning, delivery, verification, and managing risks to critical functions

• Establishes tactical and strategic goals, objectives, policies and procedures.


• Directs Supervisors and other staff involved in the Commissioning process. Inspects daily operations and projects in progress and upon completion to assure quality of work. Provides administrative and technical direction to staff; interprets established policies and procedures.


• Accountable for delivering moderately complex capital projects, from pre-feasibility to commissioning, on time, budget, and specifications


• Maintains project plan in accordance to approved project schedule and established policies and standards


• Develops, plans, and coordinates the work plan for assigned commissioning responsibilities, which may include the administration of contractual proposals relating to construction projects. Coordinates work with other units and site departments.


• Provides information and resources to site officials and other departments


• Answer questions and provide information to the public


• Coordinates the activities of consultants and contractors


• Perform other duties as required.

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field or equivalent in training and/or field experience and a minimum 6 years’ experience in the field OR High School diploma or GED and a minimum 10 years progressive experience in the field.

\u003cb\u003ePreferred Qualifications\u003c/b\u003e

• Experience in start-up, commissioning, maintenance, and troubleshooting of mechanical equipment.


• Proficient in the maintenance and repair of pumps, compressors, conveyors, crushers, gearboxes, agitators, fans, blowers, and rotating equipment. Experience with equipment alignment, precision measurements, vibration analysis, and mechanical troubleshooting techniques.


• Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, mechanical drawings, equipment specifications, isometric drawings, and vendor manuals.


• Familiarity with hydraulic and pneumatic systems, including troubleshooting and repair of associated components.


• Experience supporting pre-commissioning, commissioning, startup, performance testing, and turnover activities.


• Working knowledge of rigging, lifting practices, and safe operation of mechanical maintenance equipment and tools.


• Experience using computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) and maintenance documentation systems.


• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently and in team settings.

The estimated annual pay range for this role is currently\u003cb\u003e$97,500-$138,000.\u003c/b\u003eThis range reflects base salary only and does not include bonus payments, benefits or retirement contributions. Actual base pay is determined by experience, qualifications, skills and other job-related factors. This role is eligible for additional discretionary and incentive payment considerations based on company and individual performance. More details will be shared during the hiring process.

Freeport-McMoRan promotes a drug/alcohol-free work environment using mandatory pre-employment drug testing as allowed by applicable laws.

Ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 80% of the time (up to 40% domestic travel and up to 40% international travel), based on business needs. Domestic travel may require extended time at operating sites, including week-long assignments or longer. International travel typically involves trips of two weeks or more. This position also requires a minimum of two days per week working on-site at company locations and may require additional on-site presence based on operational needs.
