Freeport-McMoRan Inc. is seeking a Technical Coordinator - Maintenance Support to provide expert technical guidance for maintenance and commissioning across mine sites in Morenci, Safford or Sierrita, with travel to other FMI locations.

In-person work at the Phoenix Collaboration Hub is required. The role emphasizes asset reliability, project leadership, and safety, requiring strong reading of technical manuals, ability to mentor teams, and experience with industrial equipment such as pumps,

Qualifications

• Seven years journeyman level mechanical maintenance experience.
• Ability to read, understand and apply information from technical manuals and blueprints.
• Ability to perform arithmetic and unit conversions in common engineering contexts.
• Ability to work around industrial equipment safely with PPE.
• Completed Mechanical Maintenance Apprenticeship or equivalent.

Where You Will Work

This position will be based in one of the following locations: Morenci, Safford or Sierrita with expected travel to support other FMI locations. Travel frequency dependent on business needs.

Our global headquarters is in Phoenix, Arizona. Several hundred employees support our operations in finance, human resources, health and safety, information technology, planning and more. This position requires work to be performed in-person at our Collaboration Hub in Phoenix and site locations. The Hub provides an open, flexible workspace for individuals and teams to come together for various business needs. Amenities at the Hub include a working café, phone booths and meeting rooms with technology tools for virtual and in-person collaboration.

What You Will Do

• Act as technical expert in general areas of past and present operations and maintenance. Provide technical expertise to support maintenance and commissioning/decommissioning. Will have broad and deep background, knowledge and understanding of industrial processes and associated equipment.
• Serve as a project lead and collaborates with maintenance/operations teams to achieve equipment reliability and run time. This work includes, but is not limited to, asset preservation, commissioning, and rebuilds. Team members may be internal or external (vendors or contractors).
• Review maintenance documentation for plant and equipment, to help identify potential and existing problems and facilitate maintenance best practices. Having identified a problem, determine the root cause and takes action to resolve and/or prevent production/maintenance issues.
• Collaborate with Planners, Operations, and others involved in the planning of critical maintenance activities.
• Champion safety and environmental processes to support and improve maintenance working practices. Mentor personnel on best practices (process, tooling, specifications, etc.)
• Collaborate to develop and utilize standard maintenance templates to achieve equipment reliability.
• Perform other duties as requested.

What You Bring To Freeport

• High school diploma or GED and seven (7) years journeyman level mechanical maintenance repair/rebuild experience with industrial equipment (pumps, motors, gearboxes, pulleys, etc.) including project management experience.
• Journeyman level ability to read, understand and apply information from technical manuals and other reference materials, including blueprints.
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
• Ability to work around industrial equipment safely, including all relevant adverse conditions, with all applicable PPE.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and troubleshoot problems.
• Effective written, verbal, and communication skills to satisfy training, safety, and electronic message transmission policies of the company.
• Alignment training certification.
• Completed a Mechanical Maintenance Apprenticeship or equivalent.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience and/or certification in laser shaft alignment techniques.
• Experience and/or certification as a Millwright in industrial, mining, manufacturing, or related environments.
• Experience and/or certification in vibration analysis, including machinery condition monitoring and predictive maintenance practices.

What We Offer You

The estimated annual pay range for this role is currently $75,000-$104,000. This range reflects base salary only and does not include bonus payments, benefits or retirement contributions. Actual base pay is determined by experience, qualifications, skills and other job-related factors. This role is eligible for additional discretionary and incentive payment considerations based on company and individual performance. More details will be shared during the hiring process.

Frequent domestic and international travel (N.A., S.A., PTFI, etc.)

Candidates must pass all required training and/or testing.

Employees may be required to work a non-standard schedule, which may include shift work (other than day shift) at a 24/7, 365-day operation.
