Job summary

Worley Group, Inc is seeking an experienced construction foreman to plan, coordinate, and supervise activities for a major field project. You will translate priorities into executable work plans, ensure crews have resources, and monitor performance to stay aligned with objectives.

You will lead fore people and trades, support workface planning, maintain manpower levels, and promote a strong culture of HSE, quality, productivity, and accountability.

Qualifications

• Bachelor or journeyman level qualification in the assigned trade.
• 12+ years of relevant field-based construction experience.
• Strong knowledge of construction practices, sequencing, and requirements.
• Experience leading large trade crews through forepeople and supervision.

Responsibilities

• Direct and coordinate a large group of forepeople and trade personnel within an assigned construction discipline.
• Plan and allocate the workforce to maintain manpower levels and balance resources against schedule.
• Develop and support workface plans aligning field execution with priorities and resources.
• Monitor manpower, crew efficiency, productivity, and progress, adjusting as needed.
• Provide direction on work methods, sequencing, priorities, and standards.
• Coordinate daily construction activities with site teams to minimize conflicts.

Purpose of the role

You will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and supervising construction activities for your assigned trade. You will translate project priorities and schedules into executable work plans, ensure crews have the resources and direction they need, and monitor performance to keep activities aligned with project objectives.

You will provide leadership to fore people and trade personnel, support effective workface planning, maintain appropriate manpower levels, and promote a strong culture of HSE, quality, productivity, and accountability. You will also monitor costs and progress, identify potential issues, and work with the construction management team to resolve challenges before they impact the project.

• Monitor manpower requirements, crew efficiency, productivity, and progress, taking action where performance or resource levels require adjustment.
• Provide clear direction, guidance, and instruction on work methods, sequencing, priorities, and expected standards.
• Coordinate daily construction activities with forepeople, construction management, and other site teams to minimize conflicts and maintain workflow.
• Maintain a strong focus on HSE requirements and ensure work is performed in accordance with applicable procedures, standards, and site expectations.
• Support the proper training and development of apprentices and less-experienced trade personnel, helping build capability within the workforce.
• Monitor the quality of completed work and ensure activities are performed in accordance with project specifications, approved methods, and quality requirements.
• Monitor construction costs and productivity, identify areas of concern, and take practical steps to improve performance and minimize unnecessary costs.
• Review work progress and finished work to confirm that expectations, quality standards, and project requirements are being met.
• Apply company labor relations policies and work collaboratively with employees and construction management to address workforce matters appropriately.
• Recognize and resolve conflicts in a timely and constructive manner, escalating issues when appropriate.
• Identify field challenges and troubleshoot issues using sound technical and practical judgment.
• Support the implementation and improvement of construction systems, processes, tools, and work practices.
• Communicate effectively with trade personnel, fore people, construction management, and other project stakeholders.
• Build a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement while maintaining focus on safe and reliable project execution.

What you'll bring to the role

• Typically 12+ years of relevant construction experience, with significant experience working in a field-based construction environment.
• Journey-level certification or equivalent trade qualification, where required for the assigned discipline.
• Strong knowledge of construction practices, methods, sequencing, and requirements associated with the assigned trade.
• Demonstrated experience leading large trade crews through fore people and other field supervision.
• Strong understanding of workforce planning, manpower balancing, scheduling, and workface planning.
• Ability to assess productivity and efficiency and make informed decisions about workforce allocation and priorities.
• Practical understanding of construction cost control, quality requirements, and schedule performance.
• Strong HSE mindset with the ability to reinforce safe work practices and expectations across the workforce.
• Experience supporting apprentice training, workforce development, and the progression of less-experienced personnel.
• Ability to interpret project objectives and translate them into clear, practical direction for field teams.
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with both craft personnel and construction management.
• Ability to influence and persuade others while maintaining positive working relationships.
• Sound judgment and the ability to recognize, address, and resolve conflicts and field issues.
• Advanced understanding of the systems, processes, and tools used within the assigned trade, with the ability to troubleshoot issues and provide guidance to others.
• Comfortable working with a degree of independence, taking ownership of assigned objectives while knowing when to seek guidance or escalation a issue.
