Job summary

Pye-Barker Fire & Safety is seeking a Superintendent to oversee field crews and coordinate multi-department project execution from the office to the job site. You will manage schedules, equipment, and communications to ensure client needs are met.

Your leadership will drive on-site performance, safety adherence, and timely reporting while maintaining equipment and driver safety across projects. Must be adaptable to evening/weekend/out-of-town assignments and possess life-safety knowledge.

Qualifications

  • High school education or equivalent preferred.
  • Industry experience.
  • Troubleshooting skills.
  • Must have good interpersonal skills and be able to work in a team environment as well as work independently.
  • Must have a clean driving record and reliable transportation to/from the office or job site.
  • Must be flexible with scheduling requirements that occasionally will require evening, weekend and/or out-of-town assignments.
  • Requires knowledge of life safety principles and practices.
  • Requires knowledge of codes and regulations related to the work.
  • Requires ability to review official documents for completeness and accuracy.
  • Requires ability to interpret, apply, and explain applicable laws, codes, and regulations.
  • Requires ability to maintain accurate records and reports.
  • Requires ability to understand and follow oral and written directions.

Responsibilities

  • Liaising with project management teams to ensure design accuracy before work begins.
  • Ordering and scheduling equipment delivery for projects.
  • Acting as main communication between field and office.
  • Managing work schedules and timecards for field staff.
  • Providing leadership to on-site staff and subcontractors.
  • Investigating and resolving customer complaints.
  • Ensuring safety policies are followed.
  • Reviewing progress to meet deadlines.
  • Reporting results of work completed promptly.
  • Protecting and maintaining company equipment.
  • Inspecting and maintaining trucks and equipment and submitting repair requests as needed.
  • Operating warehouse equipment and ensuring safe operation.
  • Working safely per company procedures including driver safety.

The Superintendent is responsible for supporting the oversight of performance of the field staff for a variety of projects, which can involve either fire sprinkler, fire alarm, portables, KEC, or any other departments in the organization. They coordinate the work of different departments involved in a project. Their oversight will ensure that our field employees are taken care of, and our clients' needs are met.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Liaising with project management teams to ensure that the project design is accurate before work commences.
  • Ordering and scheduling the delivery of all equipment needed for the project.
  • Acting as the main point of communication between the main field and the office.
  • Managing the work schedules and timecards for all field staff.
  • Providing leadership to on-site staff, sub-contractors, and other parties.
  • Investigating and resolving customer complaints.
  • Ensuring that safety policies are strictly adhered to.
  • Reviewing project progress to ensure that deadlines are met.
  • Report results of work completed in an accurate and timely manner
  • Protect and maintain company equipment.
  • Inspect and maintain the truck and all related equipment, putting in repair requests as necessary to maintain safe operation.
  • Operate warehouse equipment, including vehicles, in a way that facilitates the loading and unloading of the truck while observing all safety regulations and manufacturer's safety instructions for that equipment.
  • Work in a safe manner as outlined by company safety procedures including driver safety and personal protective equipment.
  • Respond to emergency service calls
  • Maintain a clean and safe workspace
  • Perform other duties assigned by management.
Education/Qualification

Physical Requirements

While performing the essential functions of this job the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands or arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, and is occasionally required to lift and/or move heavy objects. The work also requires the following physical abilities in order to perform the essential job functions: balancing, climbing, grasping, hearing, mental acuity, pulling, pushing, repetitive motion, speaking, talking, and visual acuity.
