Superintendent – Job Overview

The Superintendent is responsible for overall project execution on site, including scheduling, logistics, safety, quality, and construction delivery. The role ensures that project plans are executed in partnership with the Project Manager from pre‑construction through closeout.

Responsibilities
  • Active participation in RFP responses, developing presentations, and presenting in the pitch.
  • Manage pre‑construction scheduling, logistics, and planning.
  • Create, maintain, and update accurate project schedules and weekly field updates.
  • Manage field team, trade partners, and owner vendors with proactive communication.
  • Identify and resolve on‑site challenges and issues promptly, minimizing cost impact.
  • Act as an ambassador for Clune’s safety culture and OSHA standards, leading and documenting safety meetings.
  • Maintain project documentation on site.
  • Manage the close‑out process, obtaining inspections, completing punch lists, commissioning equipment, and training owners or vendors.
  • Review general conditions and labor requirements with project management while keeping financial commitments in focus.
  • Use Clune’s systems and technology efficiently to uphold high standards.
  • Participate in business development and client relationship management at industry events.
  • Attend career fairs and client/industry events.
  • Contribute to company growth by mentoring interns, project engineers, and assistant superintendents.
  • Model professionalism for interns, project engineers, and assistant superintendents.
  • Supervise Assistant Superintendents, Project Engineers, Field Assistants, and interns as required.
Qualifications
  • Experience managing commercial interior, healthcare, or mission‑critical projects; 6‑15 years of experience, or equivalent education and experience.
  • Proven ability to create project schedules and weekly look‑aheads.
  • Experience coordinating with project management on budgeting.
  • Capacity to handle multiple or large/complex projects.
  • Strength in coordinating field teams, trade partners, and owner vendors.
  • Experience coordinating plans and specifications with architects and engineers.
  • Commitment to maintaining safety culture and OSHA standards.
  • Strong teamwork and open communication skills on the project site.
  • Problem‑solving abilities to recognize and resolve on‑site challenges.
  • Capability to mentor and train field personnel.
  • Experience in client interviews and business development activities.
  • Conscientious, flexible, with strong work ethic and team‑first attitude.
  • Highly motivated with excellent time‑management and prioritization skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast‑paced environment while handling multiple tasks.
