Job summary

Sauer-Construction, LLC seeks a Superintendent to lead daily field operations on federal construction projects in Houston, TX. You will coordinate subcontractors, ensure quality control, safety, and schedule adherence, and represent Sauer professionally with government and project stakeholders.

Required are a BS in construction-related field, 10+ years DoD project experience, and proficiency with Primavera and MS Office.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, architecture, or a related field.
  • At least 10 years of Quality Control Manager experience on federal construction projects.
  • Substantial superintendent experience on Department of Defense projects.
  • Working knowledge of Department of Defense and U.S. Army Corps of Engineers procedures and protocols.
  • Proficiency with Primavera scheduling software and Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Strong leadership, communication, scheduling, coordination, and problem-solving skills.
  • U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and Lean construction experience are preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and oversee site mobilization, temporary facilities, manpower, labor relations, and construction logistics.
  • Support project estimating, schedule development, and preparation of subcontractor scopes of work.
  • Coordinate subcontractors and the site team to maintain safe, efficient, and schedule-driven operations.
  • Develop daily work plans and detailed schedules, resolving conflicts among the client, Sauer, and subcontractors.
  • Supervise field activities and review manpower requests for craft labor.
  • Participate in construction planning and recommend practical solutions to field issues.
  • Communicate professionally with government representatives, clients, subcontractors, and project team members.

Position Summary

The Superintendent leads daily field operations for federal construction projects, coordinating subcontractors, quality control, safety, schedule, and site logistics to deliver work in compliance with contract requirements. Primary Responsibilities

Physical Requirements

This position requires prolonged standing and walking, as well as stooping, bending, climbing ladders, scaffolding, and stairs, and operating trucks or construction equipment. The employee must be able to push, pull, lift, and carry objects frequently and work outdoors in varying weather conditions, including heat, wind, and rain. Comprehensive knowledge of construction processes and industry practices, along with proven leadership and supervisory capability, is required.
