Job summary

Ames Construction is seeking a seasoned construction management professional for on-site leadership on a Farmington, NM project. The role involves managing teams, developing budgets, coordinating with clients and vendors, and ensuring project milestones are met.

Requirements include a Bachelor's degree in construction management or engineering, 5+ years in construction management (superintendent preferred), OSHA-30, and strong Microsoft Office skills. Travel to project sites is expected.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant construction-related discipline, such as construction management or engineering.
  • Minimum five years of experience in construction management; superintendent experience preferred.
  • Must have a valid driver's license and acceptable MVR.
  • Possess an OSHA-30 certification and knowledge of OSHA safety requirements.
  • Strong project management skills with budgeting best practices.
  • Collaboration skills and the ability to maintain relationships with clients and crews.
  • Ability to read blueprints, CAD drawings, design layouts and other construction documents.
  • Understanding of construction equipment and safe operating practices.
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint).
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and quality management skills.
  • Excellent communication and time management skills.
  • Able to travel frequently and support long term assignments.
  • Strong planning skills, including design execution, resource allocation, and contingencies.
  • Effective leadership abilities, able to motivate team, set goals and resolve conflicts.
  • Willing to work nights, weekends, and holidays if necessary.

Responsibilities

  • Manages a team of workers, including work schedules, project progress, and resource allocation.
  • Creates cost estimates for labor, supplies, materials and other project costs.
  • Collaborates with clients, Project Managers, other construction management to determine budget and timeline.
  • Coordinates materials and equipment delivery with vendors and suppliers.
  • Creates schedules for workers and subcontractors.
  • Hires additional subcontractors and assign work accordingly.
  • Makes changes in the operation as necessary to meet construction deadlines.
  • Implements management techniques that are cost-effective and efficient.
  • Collaborates with clients, project managers, vendors, subcontractors, inspectors and staff on site and others.
  • Prevents scope creep.

  • Makes changes in the operation as necessary to best meet construction deadlines

  • Collaborates with clients, project managers, vendors, subcontractors, inspectors and staff on site and others
  • Prevents scope \"creep\"

Working Conditions
  • Location - This project is located in Farmington, NM. Subsequent projects may be nationally based.
  • Travel - This role will be expected to travel to project locations, sometimes nationally
  • Construction site environment - physical ability to stand, walk, crawl, bend, reach and climb. May be exposed to high noise levels.
