Job summary

Sky Blue Builders is seeking an experienced Superintendent to join our Operations team for complex commercial construction projects. You will lead field operations, supervise crews and subcontractors, and ensure safety, scheduling, and budget adherence on high-profile public venues.

Reporting to the VP of Field Operations, you will manage preconstruction and construction schedules, coordinate with design teams and owners, and drive QA/QC and closeout activities.

Qualifications

• Minimum 10 years of experience in the commercial building industry.
• At least 7 years of experience managing projects as a Superintendent for a commercial general contractor.
• Experience on complex public assembly facilities such as convention centers, performing arts venues, amphitheaters.

Responsibilities

• Lead all field operations for assigned projects, ensuring adherence to schedules, budgets, and quality standards.
• Manage and supervise project personnel, subcontractors, and large crews, fostering a culture of safety and teamwork.
• Develop, update, and maintain project schedules for both preconstruction and construction phases, identifying and mitigating potential impacts.
• Oversee site logistics, material and equipment needs, and ensure compliance with safety and storm water requirements.
• Conduct daily standup meetings, weekly trade meetings, and participate in preconstruction subcontractor meetings.
• Maintain accurate project documentation, including drawings, logs, diaries, inspection notebooks, and compliance records.
• Approve and record unit cost information, manage timecard approvals, and support monthly cost and margin forecast reviews.
• Ensure quality compliance through specifications, in-house QA/QC, and coordination with outside resources.
• Lead project closeout activities, including pre-punch supervision and coordination with owners, architects, and governing authorities.
• Mentor and train project team members, participate in new hire interviews, and support company training and safety committees.

Reporting to the VP of Field Operations, the Superintendent will oversee all aspects of field management, including scheduling, subcontractor coordination, personnel supervision, safety compliance, quality control, and budget management. • Oversee procurement and management of construction permits and inspections, and assist with maintaining accurate as-builts using software tools.

Qualifications

• Minimum 10 years of experience in the commercial building industry.
• At least 7 years of experience managing projects as a Superintendent for a commercial general contractor.
• Demonstrated experience as a Superintendent on complex public assembly facilities such as convention centers, performing arts venues, amphitheaters, or similar projects; experience with iconic or high-profile venues is highly desirable.
• Experience managing self-performed concrete and carpentry labor.
• Strong skills in scheduling, quality assurance, safety, and field management.
• Proficiency with scheduling software such as P6 Primavera and Microsoft Project.
• Familiarity with CMiC, Procore, and BIM 360 is preferred but not required.
• Proven ability to lead, mentor, and motivate teams.
• Excellent organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and adapt to changing priorities.

Compensation

Salary range: $90,000 - $130,000 per year (Salaried, Exempt)
