Job summary

The Sunday Manager at Cambridge Public Library is a part-time leadership role responsible for delivering outstanding public service during Sunday hours at the Main Library and Valente Branch. Reporting to the Deputy Director of Libraries, you will supervise staff, manage Sunday operations, and ensure a welcoming, safe environment.

Qualifications include a bachelor’s degree and 3 years in public libraries or fast-paced customer service, with at least 1 year in supervisory roles; a master’s degree

Qualifications

• 3 years of work experience in public libraries or other fast-paced customer service environments.
• At least 1 year of supervisory experience.
• Bachelor’s degree required; master’s degree from an ALA-accredited program preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement Sunday schedules; adjust desk coverage and work assignments to support library service needs.
• Direct opening and closing activities.
• Monitor public and staff areas to ensure safe, welcoming environments and coordinate facility maintenance requests.
• Work alongside staff at service desks and behind the scenes; may perform circulation and information services.
• Communicate and enforce library policies and supervise staff responses to patron concerns and issues.
• Train staff in library routines, procedures, and policies; participate in relevant committees and project work.
