Job summary

The Minnesota Star Tribune is seeking a User Experience (UX) Intern to join the Product & Technology team at our Minneapolis MN headquarters for a 10-week summer internship (June–August 2027). This role targets undergrad/grad students and recent graduates passionate about creating exceptional digital experiences within local news.

Qualifications

• Current student or recent graduate pursuing undergraduate/graduate studies.
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills with ability to iterate designs.
• Experience creating wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity designs using Figma.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and adapt in a fast-paced environment.
• Collaborative mindset with cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with product managers, engineers, and UX designers on projects that support local journalism initiatives.
• Contribute to user research, UX strategy, ideation, wireframing, prototyping, and high-fidelity design.
• Assist in planning, conducting, and synthesizing user research to identify user needs.
• Create and maintain design documentation to facilitate collaboration.
• Support evolution of the design system to ensure consistency across products.
• Participate in design reviews, audits, and usability evaluations to improve user experiences.
• Present design concepts and recommendations to stakeholders.
• Build a portfolio of UX work through real-world projects.
