Job summary

The Minnesota Star Tribune is seeking a User Experience Intern for a 10-week summer program in Minneapolis, MN. You will work with the Product & Technology team to design user-centered experiences for our digital news products.

Ideal candidates are current undergraduates or graduates with strong UX fundamentals, experience in Figma, and a collaborative mindset. This on-site internship offers hands-on projects, learning opportunities, and portfolio development.

Qualifications

• Current student or recent graduate with strong interest in UX design and product thinking.
• Experience creating wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity designs using Figma.
• Ability to collaborate with product, design, and technology teams.
• Strong written and verbal communication and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
• Authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with product managers, engineers, and UX designers on projects for local news audiences.
• Participate in user research, ideation, wireframing, prototyping, and high-fidelity design.
• Assist in planning and conducting user research to identify needs and opportunities.
• Create and maintain design documentation and annotations.
• Support evolution of the design system for consistency across products.
• Participate in design reviews, usability evaluations, and stakeholder presentations.
• Build a portfolio of UX work through real-world projects.
