Job summary

ms consultants, inc. is offering a Summer 2027 Transportation Internship in Raleigh, NC (also Columbus, OH; Pittsburgh, OH; Wilmington, NC).

You will work with a dedicated manager and mentor on live transportation projects, gaining hands-on experience across bridge inspection, highway and roadway design. You'll assist with roadway geometric design, drainage design, field inspections, and data entry while learning industry software such as MicroStation or AutoCAD.

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
• Experience with MicroStation or AutoCAD, and familiarity with OpenRoad Designer is preferred but not required.
• Detail-oriented with strong technical skills; valid driver’s license.
• Ability to perform fieldwork, including carrying ladders and gear, in various weather conditions.
• Willingness to travel out of town for inspections; mileage and travel expenses reimbursed.
• Fast learner with attention to detail and the ability to work in a team; strong verbal communication.

Responsibilities

• Assist with Roadway Geometric Design and Plan preparation.
• Assist with Drainage Design and Plan preparation.
• Assist with inspections in the field, data entry into software, and assembly of reports.
• Operate with proper training and access equipment as needed.
• Undertake diverse design assignments and progressively assume responsibility under a manager's guidance.
• Support technical staff on day-to-day projects.
• Gain exposure to all organizational levels, including senior leadership.
• Receive ongoing guidance and feedback from mentors aligned with core competencies.
