Job summary

WSP USA is seeking a Full-Time Architectural Intern to join our Washington, DC office, with Baltimore, MD as a considered location. The 12-week Summer Internship Program is scheduled to start on May 17, 2027, with flexible individual start dates.

You will gain hands-on experience by working alongside senior staff on real projects, learning transportation architecture principles, conducting research, field work and preliminary design calculations, and assisting in final design plans and cost

Qualifications

• Actively enrolled in an NCARB accredited 5-Year Architectural Undergraduate degree program with an anticipated graduation date of June, 2027 or later.
• Must be 18 or older.
• Demonstrated interest in Transportation Architectural or related field, and have a strong desire to advance skills related to WSP’s work and projects.
• Competent interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others, expressing ideas effectively and professionally to an architectural and non-architectural audience.
• Capable of taking direction from leadership, mentors, and managers to executive projects.
• Basic proficiency with technical writing, office automation, software, spreadsheets, technology, and tools.
• Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
• Authorization to work in the United States at the start of the internship.

Responsibilities

• Support a variety of Architectural tasks with the goal of developing technical, social, and ethical skills.
• Learn basic principles of Transportation Architecture.
• Assist with project research, field work, and preliminary design calculations and analysis.
• Support preparation of final design plans, special provisions, and cost estimates.
• Assist in collecting and maintaining project documentation.
• Complete training on assigned tasks.
• Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
• Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.
