Job summary

PIMCO’s Summer Internship program in Newport Beach invites undergraduates to join the Trading Analyst track. You will support the desk by aggregating sector news, developing trade ideas, and communicating with traders and economists.

The experience includes hands-on work with AI-powered tools, mentorship from senior staff, and a structured training schedule. Strong analytical and mathematical skills, plus Python/SQL/VBA, help you excel and potentially transition to full-time after graduation.

Qualifications

• Pursuing an undergraduate degree.
• Must be able to begin full time employment at a PIMCO office between January 2028 - August 2028
• Must be enrolled at a university during the Fall 2027 semester (August 2027 - December 2027)
• Have a minimum 3.2 cumulative collegiate grade point average on a 4.0 scale (or the equivalent) at an accredited 4-year college or university
• Are business proficient in English

Responsibilities

• Aggregate sector/market news and trade flows through communication with sell-side traders in order to update Trade Floor
• Analyzing and developing trade ideas in fixed income products
• Communication with sell-side traders/economist/strategist in order understand current market dynamics
• Support Senior Portfolio Managers in terms of managing client accounts
• Create tools in order to streamline processes and improve efficiency
