Job summary

WSP USA seeks a Summer 2027 Structures Intern at our Troy, NY office. This paid internship runs 12 weeks, with May 17, 2027 start; the candidate is pursuing an ABET-accredited Civil Engineering program and is eager to gain hands-on experience in transportation structures.

Ideal candidates are rising juniors or seniors with an interest in structural engineering, strong communication skills, and the ability to work under supervision while contributing to project tasks and documentation.

Qualifications

• Must be a rising junior or senior actively enrolled in an ABET-accredited Civil Engineering or related undergraduate program with anticipated graduation date Sept 2027 or later.
• Must be 18 or older.
• Demonstrated interest in Structural Engineering and desire to develop skills related to WSP’s projects.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills for engineering and non-engineering audiences.
• Able to take directions from leadership, mentors, and managers to execute projects.
• Basic proficiency with technical writing, office software, spreadsheets, and related tools.
• Authorized to work in the United States at internship start.

Responsibilities

• Support a variety of engineering tasks to develop technical, social, and ethical skills.
• Learn basic principles of Structural Engineering.
• Assist with project research, field work, and preliminary design calculations and analysis.
• Support preparation of final design plans, special provisions, and cost estimates.
• Assist in collecting and maintaining project documentation.
• Complete training on assigned tasks.
• Adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and safety policies.

Education

ABET-accredited Civil Engineering Undergraduate program

Masters or PhD in Civil Engineering (preferred)
