Job summary

The Office of the Tennessee Comptroller of the Treasury invites applications for a Performance Audit Intern in the State Audit division for Summer 2027 (June 1 – August 6). This 10-week paid internship offers hands-on audit experience, training, and professional development activities, including etiquette, networking, and a final presentation of learning outcomes.

Qualifications

• Completion of at least 6 credit hours of accounting coursework.
• Preference for intermediate or advanced accounting classes.
• Candidates should be adaptable, able to think critically, and work well individually and in a team.

Responsibilities

• Actively participate in an audit of a state government entity receiving public funds.
• Conduct management interviews and review management’s records and reports.
• Evaluate design and implementation of internal controls and efficiency of operations.
• Assist with ensuring compliance with laws, regulations, contracts, and grant agreements.
