Job summary

General Motors seeks a student intern to advance cellular QoE through end-to-end vehicle and cloud/edge system design. You will prototype, implement, and test algorithms in GM test vehicles, with a data-driven approach to validate performance and reliability.

Applicants should be pursuing a Master’s or PhD, be available full-time in summer, and have experience with mobile networks, video data handling, and languages like C++, Python, and Java/Kotlin. Hybrid work in Warren, MI is expected.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Master’s or PhD degree and currently enrolled.
• Availability to work full-time, 40 hours per week during the summer.
• Background in mobile networks, Cloud/Edge computing, and 4G/5G/6G standards.
• Experience with data-intensive applications and video data handling.
• Proficiency in C++, C#, Java/Kotlin and/or Python; multithreading and RT system development.

Responsibilities

• Understand the current cellular network status, deployment, and performance.
• Design algorithms to address QoE degradation, latency reduction, and service continuity.
• Design end-to-end Vehicle and Cloud/Edge systems to support algorithms.
• Implement and test end-to-end system in GM test vehicles and document results.
• Extensively evaluate system performance using data-driven test scenarios.
• Think ahead to ensure robust system and algorithmic design with proactive solutions.
