Job summary

Expedia Group is offering a Global Summer Internship Program as an Applied Science Intern in Austin, TX. Interns will work on ML model development, data analysis, and experiment-driven iterations within a collaborative team.

The role includes mentoring, cohort onboarding, and opportunities to showcase work to senior leaders. Candidates should be pursuing a Master’s degree in a technical field with strong Python/Scala/SQL skills and be open to relocation.

Qualifications

• Must be available to commit to the full program dates: May 24 – July 30, 2027.
• Must be graduating with a Master’s degree in a technical subject between Dec 2027 and Jul 2028.
• Must be willing to relocate to the city of the job.
• Must have Python and/or Scala and SQL knowledge.
• Must have no more than 2 years of professional experience.
• Must be graduating from university in the country of internship location.

Responsibilities

• Design, prototype, and evaluate ML models under guidance of experienced scientists.
• Implement clean, maintainable model training and inference code with basic testing and reviews.
• Contribute to low-level system design, API design, and data modeling for ML features.
• Explore, analyze, and prepare data using statistical and ML techniques to improve model quality.
• Collaborate with peers and product partners to define success metrics and iterate on ML solutions.
